Garden Restaurant in High Peak

We just popped in for a drink. The staff were impeccable as was the decor. The menu was interesting and specials each day . £££/££££

We had a wonderful Sunday lunch at the Cavendish Hotel. The venue is beautiful with crisp white table cloths. A real sense of occasion. The waiters/waitresses and reception staff were friendly, welcoming and fantastic! They have a prix fix menu on a Sunday for about £45 per person for 3 courses. There is good variety for all the dishes and there's likely something for everyone. We had the prawn cocktail starter which was lovely and fresh (albeit a dish out the 70s!), the spiced carrot soup was also lovely and smooth. The bread served with both was light and fluffy! For mains we had ox cheek, the fish of the day and the sirloin Sunday roast. All of these were tasty and the side vegetables were also delicious. The sticky toffee pudding is an absolute treat! They bring you the toffee sauce on the side so you can put as much or little as you like. The sponge itself was soft and tasty, add on the sauce and ice cream and its a real delight! The service, venue and food are all wonderful and good for a special celebration meal! I thought it was reasonably priced for the standard. I understand in the summer there is also a lovely terrace overlooking the beautiful rolling hills and sheep. I would certainly recommend this restaurant and I hope to return soon!

After a recent stay at the cavendish with my partner for a birthday surprise I have to say all the staff are absolutely amazing and all went the extra mile to make our stay extra special in a lovely hotel. Thankyou to everyone for a wonderful stay and look forward to staying again soon

Excellent service, beautiful surroundings and good food. Even introduced ourselves to Rooibos Tea which we'd not tried before. Made quite a difference to our sleep patterns! Drink it all the time now 🤗 Highly recommend this place.

We have just returned from a perfect weekend at The Cavendish Hotel. The staff cannot do enough for you and made our stay extra special. We loved that breakfast was served until 12pm - breakfast, dinner and afternoon tea were all delicious. We also enjoyed sitting by the fire in the bar. The Hartington suite (room 10) was incredible. The hotel is walking distance from Chatsworth House, which is ideal. We cannot wait to stay again - it is our third visit and each time it just gets better and better. There is no where better to go for a weekend away, especially at Christmas.

Love this place. Amazing staff, great accommodation & fab high-end food. Well situated for walks & easy access to Chatsworth Estate. What more can I say.

We had a thoroughly excellent 4 nights at the hotel. All the staff without exception were super-helpful, friendly and attentive without being obsequious. We overheard many conversations between guests and different reception staff and it was clear that all the staff enjoy their job, are very knowledgeable and helpful, and there is a strong ethos of and commitment to good customer service. I had no hesitation in concluding that the 5% service charge added to the bill is money well-deserved and well-spent.The hotel itself is very comfortable, well-appointed and tastefully furnished, and the large ground floor room number 26 we had in the coach house was very cosy but spacious with a lovely bathroom. Breakfasts in the restaurant (which were included in our rate) were excellent and plentiful, and we could choose anything we wanted from both the cooked and the cold menu. We had dinner in the restaurant on our last night and both had the tasting menu which was superb, and accompanied by an excellent and very reasonable wine flight. There was no problem accommodating my partner's pescatarian diet. Cocktails in the bar are quite few in number but excellently mixed, including a superb Old Fashioned!The opportunities for eating in the village are plentiful, with the Prince of Wales, Charlies, The Devonshire Arms, and Il Lupo all excellent. You are spoilt for choice, but you could quite happily eat at the hotel every night and be very happy!The one issue we had was nothing to do with the hotel. The main road through the village is a trunk route and is extremely busy. Virtually every other vehicle seems to be an HGV, and very few lorries or cars seem to drive at the speed limit of 30mph. The pavements are very narrow outside the hotel, necessitating single file, so we felt quite vulnerable walking, especially at night when returning from the local restaurants. I would encourage the hotel to lobby the council to introduce traffic-calming measures and to lower and enforce the speed limit.All in all though, an excellent mini-break and we will definitely return. On a long walking trip...stopped for a cup of coffee, which was grand. I also ordered a pint of soda water. I was charged over £8. I know this is an up market place and I should pay a little more.... but this is silly. The explanation was they used 3 small bottles. I think if someone had warned me I would have refused

Beautiful hotel and surroundings. Food was very nice. I felt some of the staff were very stuffy though and perhaps would benefit from lightening up a little. I think this would help on making everyone feel more comfortable.
