George Hotel Restaurant in High Peak

Booked 5 rooms for the weekend., Excellent place to stay. The rooms were clean and serviced daily. Food was good with a range of foods on offer including vegetarian. The staff were excellent, friendly, approachable and they all appeared to enjoy their work - a rarity these days. It was a good base for exploring the High Peaks. Would recommend without hesitation.

To the New Owners. The 3 guys that were serving behind the Bar on Sunday were very helpful , but two of them looked fed up and very depressed. The female waitress was rushed off her feet and looked very miserable with no smiles or interactions with the customers. If they are not valued , paid well , and no tips due to card payments I can understand why. Becoming a cashless society will cause a lot of Problems for the service and Hospitality Industry in attracting high quality staff. Everyone needs a bonus or an incentive to work to be motivated .Dealing with members of the public is not easy. Remove the Honey Pot and the Bees will fly away. Good luck with it

We only came for food and had the Sunday roast, which was really decent. Good vegetarian and vegan selection too.

The George Hotel has usually been good place to eat whenever we have visited over the last few years.Monday night's experience doesn't bode well though.We had booked a table for 7pm weeks ago only to arrive to find there was no table available.They had clearly given our table to someone else,but didn't want to admit it.One of the excuses was some one else came in with the same name 🤔.Most unlikely.Eventually a table was found.The food was pretty average.Service wasn't great either.We cancelled our booking for the following evening and booked for the Italian round the corner instead.The George Hotel needs to get it's act together quickly.Please ask your staff to be honest when something has gone wrong,not make silly excuses.

I did not stay here but wanted to eat. The customer service was very unwelcoming and unhelpful. The staff had zero interest in serving us or telling that it's possible to order take away. Everyone just wanted to avoid us as much as possible. They even knew they are the only restaurant in this city and still just wanted to send us away without putting one minute effort to trying to solve the situation or tell about the take away option.After 40 minutes of waiting they came to tell that they only have ingredients for 2 pizzas while we ordered four. Amazing stuff

We tried to eat at the restaurant of The George as it was the only open one in town. Service was below any standards. Restaurant was fully booked and they couldn’t offer us anything. Only after another customer told us that we could order pizza for takeaway, they told it is possible. We ordered 4 pizzas and sit to wait. After 10 minutes we were told it would take up to 40 minutes. We agreed to wait. After 55 minutes we were told that they have ingredients only for 2 pizzas. Pizzas were offered for free though. Worst customer service I have ever seen.

Top rooms for a pub and the food and drink is to die for. They have great classic pub dishes and their homemade pies are sublime. Great selection of real ales, lagers and ciders ..... Give it a try

A pub of the older style, some average Ale, nothing to complain about but nothing write home about either. Some dog Friendly outdoor seating at the rear.

after hiking at Chinley Burn, arrived prebooked table for 5 on 1:30pm Thursday. the staff were friendly, the 2 courses lunch was £12, it was value for money. meals and desserts ordered were ok. the food service was fast.

Called in for Sunday dinner for the two of us. We had a roast beef dinner which came out of the kitchen fast and piping hot and quite nice. After that the service was very slow unfortunately. We was going to have desert but no one came back to us after taking the plates otherwise it would be a 5* review
