Old Sun Inn in High Peak

Sat outdoors on a glorious day but when it got too cold, we went into 'the snug' for private enclosed dining ;) food took longer than expected but when it came, it was definitely well worth the wait. Absolutely delicious in every aspect, aesthetically, taste, texture and flavours that makes one long for it again and again! Definitely a must visit in Buxton!

Went here for a meal tonight and had the steak and ale pie. Had to rush outside as something hard lodged in the back of my throat. I managed to dislodge it, on examination it seemed to be a long, thin piece of bone. I spoke with a waitress who apologised and explained ' its a rosemary stalk, we've had 2 or 3 others complain tonight'. Whilst I had my meal refunded I struggle to understand how they knew about this yet continued serving the food? This was a serious choking hazard which was dismissed as a kitchen error. I will be speaking to the environmental health department tomorrow.

Food was good. Service was great.I liked it (4 stars). Did I Iove it (5 stars)? Nope. Maybe it's just not my type of food. I see people who love it and come back to get more.Clearly, it's good food. For me personally, it's not food I love. That's not to say it's bad. I'd go again without complaining if a group wanted to go. I wouldn't crave it.I had a meat pie and, to me, the sauce that accompanied it was uninspired and bland. Again, a perfectly fine pie. Just not amazing.

Great pub fantastic food highly recommend

A coach house, one of the oldest buildings in Buxton. We had no reservation but the staff were welcoming and accommodated us before another reservation. Sat in one of several ambient rooms with low lighting (William Morris wallpaper to my delight). Open log fire and delicious food. Will visit again in summer and check out the beer garden to the rear.

This was so good we went back the next day for more. Brilliant service; superb staff. Comfy pub with excellent ales and excellent vegetarian food. We looked in a dozen pubs in Buxton, even had a drink in a few, but this one is head and shoulders above the rest. It was so friendly, welcoming and comfortable. Definitely a place to return to, next time we're in the area.

Great pub in Buxton with so many tables - both inside and outside. Outside seating was perfect for a meal in the sun and away from the busy road.The Sunday roast and scampi were delicious. The staff were some of the friendliest we’ve encountered on our holiday here !Would recommend booking for food - we had a 12pm Sunday lunch booking and the service was quick. But it got a lot busier as the day went on.

Great atmosphere with a surprisingly good drink selection and excellent chunky chips.The staff are really friendly and helpful, with masks and plastic screens still in place. We only had the one drink here but it was a lovely place and seeing the food go by we took the no risk option of having some chips too, which were great.There's seating outside too and it looks like a great place to stay for a few or get a pub meal.

Just had the best Sunday roast I've had for a long long time. Absolutely superb! Great ambiance, food and drink. Log fires and friendly staff. 5 stars from me!

This was our first visit to this pub.As soon as we entered we were kindly asked to check in with the QR covid app. We requested a table outside as it was a beautiful day. The lady took our drink orders to link in with the table in the beer garden. She directed us to our table and it was very well laid out. Even though most tables were taken you didn't feel like they had crushed you together. Less than 3 minutes later another waitress approached us to check that someone had taken our order and if we would like a menu.The drinks arrived very quickly and were very reasonably priced. I wasn't sure what food to order so the waitress asked what my choices were and she made a recommendation. The portion sizes were generous and very tasty.I would highly recommend this lovely pub. The staff were so welcoming and friendly which really helped the atmosphere.
