Smithy Fold in High Peak

Nice venue to start. Food is good for price but the management should note that when food is cooked and ready to go its left on kitchen counter for as long as 30 mins. This is why food is either tepid or cold when taken to tables. We sat on a table near kitchen and watched this happen again and again. The food and chef are really good. It's a shame about the bad service. This failure in service needs to be raised to the top. Action would increase traffic and sales.

Once you understand how the system works (staff are ready to explain), then it is easy. A great choice of food and drink, and the staff are pleasant and efficient, and prices are reasonable. The large area was a bit noisy like a canteen, but that was no real problem.

Lovely building. Friendly staff! We had the battered fish chips and peas. It was delicious! Piping hot food.We were passing through on our way back from Sheffield. If we were out that way again we would definitely call in again. *****

Visited on 17th June 2022 at about 7.30pm to celebrate my daughter finishing college. We looked at the menu on the app, and we were very disappointed as 3/4 of the food on the menu was not available. We were told that due to the freezer packing up some food were not available. So we ordered what was available, fish and chips for myself, burger, chips and onion rings for my daughter and a rare steak and chips for my husband. I have never in my life thought what a waste of money for food. Fish and chips were horrible, 10 chips on my plate burnt fish, daughters burger was burnt with 10 chips, husband ordered a rare steak, came like shoe leather with 10 chips. The only food that was good was the peas. We tried to complain, but we couldn’t find the manager, we paid and left. I know Wetherspoons is cheap, and you get what you pay for, but come on, I would rather go to McDonalds for food that is 100% better than this place. At least I would get more chips and nothing burnt. Never again!!!!!! Would I recommend NO

Solid option for Glossop. Decor is nice (converted mill). Like most Wetherspoons best to order on the app. Looses on star for lack of orange soft drink on the menu. Food was cooked correctly and beer was nicely chilled.

Went for breakfast with the family before going to the Victorian Fair. Placed our food order at 11-15 and finally had it brought to us at 11-45. Needless to say it was awful. Everything was barely warm although the plates were hot. Tables not wiped down and the place wasn't that busy. Staff seemed to be on a go slow the way they strolled around.

Wetherspoons welcomed us on a family walking trip to Glossop and we went there for breakfast then dinner the same day. The prices are excellent and most of the food was fine for the money, if a little tepid. The fried chicken type items are the most reliable. The 'simple jalfrezi' was similar to a Sainsbury's ready meal, but ok if you don't have high expectations. My kids all really enjoyed their burgers and chips etc. Staff were very helpful and professional and helped us access food allergy information, which we are always appreciate.

Went to the Victorian weekend great fun decided to have some food everywhere was packed ended up in Wetherspoons first time in in a Wetherspoons very busy good atmosphere everybody having a great time order food at the bar staff were excellent took time to explain the menu took our drinks back to the table, in less than 10 minutes we were eating our food steaks were cooked perfectly better than some expensive restaurants I've been to less than 50 quid for four of us unbelievable will definitely be going back I can highly recommend Wetherspoons that's it I'm all done

after a bad experience a couple of weeks ago, waiting for an hour for our food which we were told they forgot about and it had gone cold. maybe if the staff weren't stood around chatting they'd have noticed it was ready. we returned today and were told to leave as a member of our party was "banned months ago", this is incorrect as we frequent this establishment on a weekly basis and have never been told this before. the person was not even given the opportunity to apologise for whatever they had done, and we were rudely asked to leave. take your money elsewhere, the Pico lounge, Oakwood, Norfolk etc, where you will be treated with respect and dignity. we always treat the hospitality industry with the upmost profession and are always grateful for the service, and dont expect this.

Food arrived quick and was lovely. Great place to catch up with friends cheap drinks 🍸 also 3 hours 3 parking nearby.
