The Hanging Gate Pub and Restaurant in High Peak

Pub food is good however the place is stuck in time. The furniture, carpets and decor in general is very very old. The decs they put up hide the truth. The owners need to spend some money on the appearance of the place. People want to eat in nice surroundings not sit in a scruffy restaurant.

Great atmosphere, not such a great burger. The service was wonderful and attentive. my wife and I both ordered the vegan burger with salad and chips. So you imagine a burger loaded with everything a burger normally comes with: cheese, sauces, maybe some salad inside etc. our server said themselves the vegan burger was ace, so we were really excited! We were gutted when we got our order: the burger was dry and slightly burnt. Placed in a dry bun with salad and chips on the side, no sauce or anything. I think what was most disspointing was there was clearly no love put into it and we could have made the same meal ourselves for half the price. Judging by the roasts my in-laws ordered, they can absolutley nail those! But in my opinion they're not ready for customer that appreciate a good bruger. At least vegan ones. We didn't send our order back because we were starved, so we left deflated but full. Sorry Hanging Gate, I was rooting for you.

Went on the last day of the decorations and was not disappointed! Amazing job! The food was lovely as usual too, we shared the pate to start and had a hot wrap each and we were stuffed! A quality country pub that's well worth a drive out to 👌

Finally visited this ace little pub, to see the Xmas decorations, and enjoy a lovely roast dinner whilst there. Staff friendly, service speedy, and food fresh and piping hot. As previously advised we booked a table as we've heard you can't get in otherwise. Staff cleaned tables and chairs thoroughly before re-setting after being used. We'd certainly pay another visit in the future. Lovely...

Absolutely stunning pub. Can't fault it. Staff were very friendly, food was gorgeous, and the Christmas decorations are second to none. Can't wait to take the grandchildren.

Came upon the pub on passing, glad we did. It is done up for Christmas like no pub I've seen before. Had a fantastic lunch, served by excellent staff
