The Little Mill Inn in High Peak
Where is The Little Mill Inn?
🏠 Hollinsmoor Rd, Rowarth, High Peak SK22 1EB
"The Little Mill Inn is an iconic pub in the heart of the Peak District countryside, close to Kinder Scout and The Pennine Way, with plenty of walking and cycling/mountain biking routes straight from our door. Inside we have all the charm of a traditional country pub with a roaring log fire, superb locally sourced home cooked food and a fine selection of ales and lagers. Our deluxe en-suite guest rooms are spacious, modern and tastefully decorated. We have a huge beer garden, outside bar and play area to keep the whole family happy. Muddy boots and paws are welcome!"

The service was shocking and the gentleman waiter was extremely rude. We took the family for lunch and was charged £17 for burger and chips. My Granddaughter is gluten intolerant and the staff would not heat her food in their microwave, they said they didn't have one.The overall experience was disappointing and we will not be returning. My Granddaughter was visiting from the Czech Republic and the service was such a contrast. The prices were over the top and the food was of a very poor quality. I am reluctant to rate the pub with even 1 star.

Sorry, but our visit did not live up to expectations. I know it was Mothers Day but we had booked well in advance and checked menus due to allergies and dietry options before hand. The food was expensive. Very restricted menu and not the one discussed with two party members; only one vegetarian option, one gluten free veggie option, and our child under 2 only had option of vegetables. The table staff were rude. Table not ready at the time we had booked, we were seated over half an hour late then told we had to vacate it in an hour, when we still had received no food. We were then asked how our sweets were when we had not received our main course. A time notice was then placed on the table, even after a lady apologised for this. Finally, we asked for our portion of the food bill, £45.35, to be rounded up to £50 to include a tip, when we checked our bank later it had been made to £55.35 therefore leaving nearly a £10 tip. Beautiful setting, but wont be back. Very disappointed.

Visited this pub on our last night in the Peak District, and what a way to end the trip!! Fantastic food and service. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. A lovely crackling fire, and visiting doggos just made for an even better atmosphere. Super friendly staff and locals all around. We were greeted and thanked by every staff member and made to feel like a local ourselves. So many local pubs make you feel like an outsider or awkward, but not this place! Would definitely come back! Thank you to our waitress whom we never got the name of for being so lovely!

Brilliant find! In a picturesque quiet spot. Plenty of outside seating for sunny days. Inside feels warm and cosy with a number of the locals using the bar which made for a friendly atmosphere. Staff very attentive and friendly and Charlie the dog keeps an eye on things. Food is really amazing. Presentation is taken seriously. Portion sizes feel right. Quality of ingredients is top. Taste is high-end. Would have no hesitation on recommending.

Where to start? Thanking our lucky stars we were able to stay here in our hour(s) of need! Everyone we spoke to was personable, welcoming, and so friendly from the very first phone call; and it was like a weight lifted off our shoulders the second we walked in. The rooms are lovely and comfortable (the beds are wonderful and so are the pillows so ignore that other lunatic); yes the showers aren't like a pressure washer, but considering the amazing work done in a listed building, the electric showers are plenty.Rooms are spacious, fresh, and have loads of storage, and they manage being pet friendly without it being noticeable in the rooms. The building is set in beautiful grounds and I can't wait to see it in the summer, though it even had its charms whilst being battered by 80mph winds and driving rain. The passion and interest for the mill's history held by everyone that works here was infectious, and it was great to find out more about the historic site. Now, on to the FOOD. We sadly weren't able to enjoy the breakfast, but we ate here on two evenings and everything was delicious (and arrived with us promptly). Hands down the best burger I've ever had. I've never eaten anywhere that's managed to produce a burger that shows complexity of flavours without creating either a sloppy and/or tasteless mess as the end result; but the chef here did it perfectly. All the ingredients are fresh and tasty, and the menu is put together thoughtfully with something for everyone. The chap working front of house was an absolute legend and gave us great recommendations; and along with the owners made us feel so welcome. So glad we're local and can't wait to come back again. ♥️ Thank you!

Excellent stay, can't recommend it highly enough. The owners and staff are all very friendly, great atmosphere, fantastic location and dogs are made very welcome. The rooms are very clean, tidy and spacious, food is also very nice.If you have dogs and enjoy a good walk you won't find a better place to rest your legs after a day out.We will be back again.

From walking through the door to leaving we had a great experience, we felt extremely welcome on arrival. The food was outstanding. The rooms were quiet, clean and fresh. 100% would stay there again.

We booked a night stay at this place. We had reserved a table and didn't have our food around one hour after ordering. We were shocked that people that came in after us who were served there food before us.The beds were uncomfortable and the pillows were like bags of cement. The shower was none existent and leaked al over the bathroom floor. We had a lovely wake up call by the Cockerell at 5:00am till 7:30am.Breakfasts was poor and had very little choice of cereals and only had two flavours of jam.But when we asked the lady for strawberry jam she said no you can't and walked off.Overall we had really bad experience and would not recommend this place!

We stopped here over the Christmas break for one evening. We ate both at lunch time and in the evening and the food was outstanding, both in taste and value for money. The Assistant Manager, Chefs, Bar Staff and Waiters / Waitresses were very attentive and are a true asset to the Little Mill Inn, they really go above and beyond to make your stay the best it can be.A very big shout out and thanks to the Assistant Manager (sorry forgot to get your name), to the Chefs (Scott, Ali & Simon) , to the bar staff who kept our drinks topped up all night (more mature gentleman with long hair and a beard. Again forgot to get his name, sorry) and to Lucas and Freya for going above and beyond with serving our food and attending to anything we needed.I forgot just how friendly people from 'Up North' really are, really genuinely nice honest peopleBeing a dog friendly pub, we took our little dog with us, and it is clear to see they love their dogs here, with quite a few dogs being in the pub. It was nice to not feel alienated for taking a dog into a pub and being able to relax with the pooch whilst having a meal and drink. We will certainly look to stay here again in the future and thoroughly recommend this public house if you want great food, accommodation and service.

Visited here whilst taking an elderly client out for lunch. Good food, friendly staff, a little out the way. But would go again. From a professional and decency viewpoint my elderly client and I think the female staff members shouldn’t wear (mini)mini skirts. It gave off a little negativity we thought. We are however looking to return soon.Would be perfect for children and dog owners too as it is very welcoming.Food was fresh, flavoursome, good portions and reasonably priced 😊
