We had dinner here on our first night in the peaks. It was delicious - high quality and (largely) quite sustainably sourced ingredients. A good selection of wine, too. Very efficient and friendly service. Would definitely return!

This is a true gem of an establishment. An absolute must visit if you're in the area. Amazing staff, beautiful venue and a chef that is clearly very talented! If I could give 6 stars, I would!

A very disappointing meal for Mother’s Day. The menu was an interesting one which welooked forward to. The starters were good but that’s where it ended. The mains were badly executed - undercooked items and lukewarm food. It was pointed out to the staff who offered to replace the meals. We declined as we had our 80+ year old mums with us and didn’t want to make a fuss. We thought the desserts might redeem things. Unfortunately they were very uninspiring and the salted caramel one was awful and badly presented. Again not wanting to make fuss we got the bill - £180 for 4 - expecting a discount, which would have been good customer service, but sadly not offered. Very expensive mistake. Will not go back.

Delicious food. Great atmosphere and good service. Came here as a special treat on our honeymoon and it was fantastic. Excellent beetroot starter which was so fresh. Followed by venison that was perfectly cooked. Everything from the chips to the beer were better than any gastro pub meal we had had before. Thanks again for an incredible experience.

We had a lovely meal here on the first night of our honeymoon as a special treat. The staff were wonderful greeting us with a congratulations and a glass of Prosecco, it really made us feel special and was a lovely touch. The food was incredible all around from the olives, the carefully put together and uniquely flavoured starter, delicious venison and sea bass and dessert. Every course offered a great taste experience. It is a more expensive restaurant than we would usually visit, but for a special occasion was very much worth the visit.Thank you for a lovely evening and great food!

Celebrated two birthdays there on Saturday night - 7 people, a mix of fussy vegetarians, pescatarians and carnivores. We all came away raving about the food and staff. Exceptional service and cuisine. Superb value, wonderfully warm and relaxed atmosphere. There’s a little magic going on here - I almost wish I wasn’t posting about it, but these folks deserve the praise.

Now then. This was really really really good. Like absolutely no word of a lie brilliant. I'm going to say it was my best experience of hospitality and food in 2021. I read the review in the Times and thought hey I've family up at Christmas let's give it a go. Booked a table for 10 and rolled up in that fab bit of time post Christmas and pre new year. We went for a walk and rocked up a bit early, and the table was all ready for us and gave us time to have some pre dinner cocktails and injest the menu. I had a whisky sour and a Manchester egg to get the juices working, and my goodness, we all loved it. Scallops and beef followed. Well-timed and attentive staff made the meal flow with a laid-back form of professional friendliness that made me so very happy. The children and the dog loved it as much as the adults. We'll done to all the crew here who are really delivering a winner in Hayfield. It's better than you even think it might be. Not pretentious or too serious. It's bloody perfection.

After reading, by chance, a review in the Times we booked a table and were not disappointed. The staff are attentive but not in your face. The supervisor, sorry didn't catch his name, was exceptionally knowledgeable regarding the food and wine selection. The menu was exciting and different, using locally sourced ingredients. The food was lovely and presented so well. The pub itself has a warm friendly, local pub atmosphere but they are serving top class food. Definitely worth a trip. And my partner was very impressed by the ale selection. And they do a nice selection of cocktails.

Stunning stunning food. Obviously popular! The whole loaf of sourdough made in house was utterly divine and both mains that my partner and I had were beautifully presented and of an extremely high quality. Love that meat was sourced locally. Staff were friendly and attentive. Playlist was a little out of keeping with such a nice place, but other than that - such a wonderful visit!

Lovely dog friendly pub with some great Sunday Roast options. Possibly a little more expensive than the other pubs in the village, but no complaints about the food. Had the roast lamb...delicious! Mashed swede was like warm on delivery, but otherwise couldn't fault them. Will be back!
