The Royal Oak Hotel in High Peak

Great stay at the Royal Oak recently whilst bike packing the Pennine Bridleway. The rooms were just what we needed and the food and service was excellent 👌. Thank you Georgina and all of the staff for a lovely stay.

Only had a meal, for 5 people. Main dining room/bar was freezing, and there was a lingering dirty/damp/wet mop smell. Food was really poor all round (no one enjoyed it). Felt like it needs a good clean.

Love it here! Every time we come to peak district we always stay here. Rooms are great, food is delicious staff & owner are great. If staying Friday night then ask for a top floor room otherwise you'll hear music.

Stayed on the 4th floor, room 4. Was terrible. Infestation of small flies (2 flew out from the bed sheets when pulled back, at least 30 in the shower tray - had to rinse it out to get rid of them, upwards of 50 flying around in the room and crawling on the walls/bedside tables), ripped sheets and the corridor and stairwell reeked of sewer from the men’s bathroom. We were offered breakfast but only from 8:30-9:30 am, we said this time wouldn’t work for us - we had also noted in our booking request that we needed a 7 am breakfast but this was not acknowledged. However, we were were offered to-go bags in the morning when we arrived but none were present when we left the next day. We would have brought these concerns to the attention of our host at the time, but no one was around to speak to. This was worst stay I have ever experienced and would not recommend to anyone.

The food was lovely, would recommend that you maybe order your main meal,and then think about starters,we didn't, and couldn't finish our meal, portions are good

We had a room at the front, lot of noise from the road. A fan in the room would help during warm weather and having to close the window. The rooms were very clean; the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Would definitely go again

Stayed overnight with family. We had 2 rooms. Both good size. A doorstop would help as door handleit taken paint of wall. Food very good quality. Staff great. Chef, manger went out of his way to make sure our stay and breakfast was great. Would deffinatly stay here again. Keep up the good work. You were busy but not to busy to make us all very welcome. Thank you

Fantastic food, restaurant quality, unbelievable flavour and a huge menu choice. Our room is clean and tidy, staff are lovely. Highly recommended
