The Shady Oak Restaurant in High Peak

Fabulous pub, friendly and easy going. Food really very good indeed .. due to road closures nearby unfortunately losing passing trade but most definitely accessible, both worth and deserving of a few extra minutes to support the pub 🍻

The Shady Oak is a gem of a pub. The owner and his staff are professional, polite and good natured. We stayed over night and the accommodations was comfortable, spotlessly clean with tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast is amazing with toast, delicious fry up and orange juice, tea & coffee. Great way to finish our stay. Perfectly located to explore Derbyshire & surrounding area. Can’t recommend it highly enough and wish them well with there future business.

We went to this lovely dog friendly pub for lunch after a long walk and we were spoilt rotten.The minted lamb shank was incredible, the garlic bread was the best I'd ever had and the dirty fries hit every spot.The staff were an absolute delight, what a smashing pub.

We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity of food we got at shady Oak. We were well received by the friendly staff, and could barely move after we were done eating. Amazing food. We'll worth the detour.

Great people, FABULOUS views, gorgeous food. Sunday roast was fantastic. What I liked best was that cauli cheese was available to add and the meat was carved nicely thick so I could appreciate the texture, not wafer thin as seems de rigour elsewhere. Oh - and that there was PLENTY of gravy. Due to the road closure this pub needs supporting. Four of us walked there for lunch and enjoyed what we had; fish and chips, burger and two hot sandwiches on chiabata.

A very enjoyable Sunday Roast. No complaints at all. From the cleanliness and service, to the presentation and quality of the meal. A definitely, must return vote from me.

Turned up out of the blue with my 2 rambling mates, 2 pints of Wainwright and a Fosters for me, glass was that clean each sip hung to the glass (10/10) and the Lady on the bar took our 3 meal orders, Bacon Cheese Burger, Fish & Chips and a Lamb Shank with all the trimmings and some. Said no rush as we finished our walk early and 20 minutes later all the food was on our tables. Great standard, well cooked and I will order the Lamb Shank next time as it looked epic. Smelt better! Really friendly service and good team here. I look forward to going again.

Cracking pub!!! Made to feel welcome by the landlords and staff. Food excellent, only one issue was that I could never finish a meal due to the large portions. Would definitely go again

Really nice pub in the Derbyshire hills just outside of Whaley Bridge on the road to Buxton (Long Hill). Our Lotus Club meets there once a month in their nicely large car park and we alwys feel welcome. Nice views over the hills.
