Very nice food. The beef, ale and mushroom pie is to die for!! And serve real onion rings! It's on a nice quiet country road and just 5 minutes walk from the nearby campsite.I highly recommend you book to eat here though on weekends as we were disappointed not to be able to get in on the second night.Either way, staff were lovely and we will definitely visit again when we return to hayfield.Plenty of nice beers and spirits to choose from plus WC Facilities and parking out front.

Lovely traditional local country pub. The bar staff were pleasant, the pub was clean and inviting, nice sheltered beer garden. I didn't try the food or use the facilities. There are some on road car parking places, and a car park a little further down the hill (not free).

I've just returned from staying at The Sportsman Inn on Saturday night with 3 friends after we enjoyed a long day walking around the Kinder Scout area of the Peak District. The Sportsman Inn was perfectly positioned for the walk that we had planned and also offered a maximum of three rooms of accommodation which was precisely what we required. We parked in reserved customer parking on the road outside the Inn, went walking for the day and returned around 1700 to check in. We were greeted very hospitably by Leesa who showed us to our rooms briefly and gave us our keys and was very understanding that we needed a sit down and a pint after a long day!!The rooms were clean and quiet, good shower facilities, tea/coffee in the room, everything we could need.We had booked a table in the restaurant as we were advised that it can get busy. We ate around 1800 and the restaurant was beginning to fill up at that stage. Three of us had Fish & Chips and one had a Burger. All the food was very good and there was nothing left on the plate. Whether that was a testament to the food or how hungry we were after walking all day, we will never know!!The service in the restaurant was always polite, prompt and accommodating and the seating was comfortable and relaxed.Breakfast is included as part of the accommodation and we all had a very filling and tasty breakfast. Unlimited tea/coffee/orange juice, cereal/toast, etc plus a full cooked breakfast and I enjoyed the vegetarian option. The staff were fully accommodating at all times whilst creating a relaxed and friendly environment to eat & sleep. If I'm in the area again and require accommodation, the first port of call will be The Sportsman Inn.

Arrived here on good Friday, starving and with no booking for food, Louise who met us at the entrance and who served us, went above and beyond to fit us in for dinner with our small dog, she made us feel very welcome.Food was amazing, the three cheese and red onion pie was best I’d ever tasted.Louise made our experience and evening a very nice one, wish we could of gone back for more delicious food before we headed home. Thanks Louise

We popped in for Sunday lunch. Great friendly service. Homemade soup for two and then one lamb and one beef roasts. Meat tender and tasty, good selection of vegetables. Oh, the cauliflower soup was delicous too, even though I usually choose meaty soups.

Lack luster this kind of place could be so much better but if they're content slinging frozen bought ins in the fryer that's up to them. Burger buns are foul, burgers not as described random bits missing from menu like pesto Oil, let me check if he's made any. House Shiraz smelled weird had to leave half of it

Went there for lunch to "test the water" so to speak and had a great steak sandwich with very lean locally supplied meat and my partner had the chicken wrap both equally good as was the service. Went there this evening and I had the prawns to start and 2 of us had rack of lamb and one the pork belly. All superb. Veg good too, drinks fine, service excellent. All in a great place with a lovely atmosphere and professional friendly staff. The chef often walks through and doesn't "hide in the kitchen as most do, showing interest in " front of house". Also a very covid aware pub so we felt safe. Can't say more and no need to, as well pleased.
