Had a couple of drinks with friends Friday night and asked for the food menu just after 8pm , to be told we’ve finished serving!!Two things:1. Why didn’t anyone ask us if we wanted food?!? We were in the bar from 6pm!2. Why did the barman say he could probably rustle up dessert if we were hungry? Either service had stopped or it hadn’t.Very disappointing that nobody pointed out food had to be ordered before 8pm.

We had a room downstairs that was small but functional. The first night was very cold but we worked out the heating and then had to have the dehumidifier on to dry the room out. We were told it was disabled friendly and the room itself had a walk in shower. The problem was that unless you wanted to drive to the other side of the hotel the only way to access the restaurant was either up a set of steep stone stairs outside. If we went out of our room at the rear we could get upstairs via firstly a short flight of about 6 stairs, then a turn and up about 2 stairs, then another turn and about another 6 or 7 stairs. Then you walk along a corridor and there were about another 6 stairs into the restaurant itself. A bit challenging! Food was OK. My piece of battered haddock on the second night was really good. The salmon fillet on the first night was really good but I wasn't too keen on the salad with balsamic vinegar. My husband didn't like that they poured gravy on his dinner. In all the 33 years we have been together he has never eaten gravy. It did say a jug of gravy but he didn't get that. Nothing majorly wrong but I don't think it should be sold as disabled facilities really.

Beatiful pub and an absolute treat after a long walk. The staff are very friendly, great atmosphere and a good selection of food and drinks. Delightful home made food and hearty portions; we all had different things but every single one of us truly enjoyed our dinner. Will definitely return again and highly recommend it.

Second stay here. Room comfort was good but shower screen is a little short meaning the floor gets wet. Post lockdown and new COVID-19 outbreaks meant staffing labels weren't the usual but didn't affect the stay. Quite quiet in terms of occupancy. Food was good and plenty of it. Good base for walking.

Food is great. But I find the staff very rude and patronising.Ordered separately but for same table. So you would think meals would come out together for everyone. I'd eaten mine by the time my friends had come out. When you ask at the bar for a table you barely get a response like they can't be bothered with you.

We had a wonderful stay. Perfect loction, gorgeous scenery. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only down side was unfortunately the bed and pillows, we didn't sleep well but other than that we cannot fault this lovely hotel

Lovely cozy quiet room for my weekend break. Food both nights was delicious. Service was exceptional. I would love to go back and I will definitely.

Microwaved pre made food. Veg zapped within an inch of its life, beef stew cold and Yorkshire pudding tough and chewy either a day old or out the freezer and microwaved. Steak over cooked after preference given. Ordered drinks and only one turned up. Feedback given to bar staff about the food and no refund offered. Wont be going back unfortunately. Looks nice but doesn’t have the quality food or service to back it up. Really disappointed as it used to be nice

Lovely food, including gluten free menu. I actually got to have a burger with bread, as there were gluten free bread rolls that tasted good! Great that we could take the dog anywhere in the pub. Staff were very friendly and helpful. A great place to go after a long walk.

Met up with friends as a suitable central location for lunch. We had reserved a table in advance. The place has a nice feel to it. It was quite busy as you might expect for a Saturday. Even so, there was plenty of parking. A fire was lit which added to the atmosphere. The food is typical pub food. Portion sizes were good. There is a separate vegetarian menu which could be given greater prominence.Ordering the food was somewhat chaotic. Of the seven main dishes ordered only three were got completely correct. It did not get any better with the deserts, and custard was delivered cold so had to be sent back to be heated. Similarly, the bill did not quite accurately reflect what we had ordered (though this was corrected without fuss). Hopefully this service is not the norm.
