Lovely experience at lunch today. Really friendly welcome and quick service. Food was very tasty and served in a great atmosphere, open fire and all. Perfect for a post-walk pub lunch!

Fab stay at the nags head, very welcoming and attentive staff. Very good value for money and decent sized room and massive shower! Pub area v cosy with open fires. We didn't have dinner there although the menu looked extensive.Breakfast was a treat and they catered for vegans and other dietary requirements.Would highly recommend for a stay in castleton with free parking included too, thanks Nags Head! :)

The food was disappointing. I had the so called 'local dry aged sirloin' from the grill. It was thin and suspiciously trimmed around the edges - no grilled fat on show or natural juices. It was tasteless and had a texture of cardboard pulp. I suspect a frozen steak micro-waved before grilling. The peas were hard and the onion rings were dark brown and overcooked , as were the chips. The other diners meals were also quite poor with quirky presentation and lack of real cooking skills. They are extracting the maximum profit from the minimum of standards and quality - go somewhere else.

We were disappointed by the food and the service. Went for Sunday Roast and the staff didn’t know if the meat was from local farmers or not, didn’t know what pieces of meat they had. We decided not to risk it and had a couple of burgers. The meat on the Beef burger wasn’t good and the chicken burger seemed to be cooked hours before we ate it, same with the fries, seemed to be heated in the microwave before served. Only a couple of friendly members of staff. It’s a nice pub in a lovely location with a cozy fireplace. It would be great if they trained staff to know what they’re serving and provide information about where their produce comes from.

Beautiful establishment, excellent service with some really lovely and friendly staff. I would give 5 stars should my food had come sooner (waited for 30 mins) and if my pot of coffee wasn't that weak (could barely tasted the coffee). Thank you, it was really lovely.

Just back from a couple of nights stay, had a great time. The staff here are so nice and made us feel really at home. We were in a twin room which is on the top floor,so a few stairs to climb. The room was lovely and warm with a huge shower , clean & comfortable. The food here is Exellent we had booked dinner for the 1st night as we planned to try elsewhere on the 2nd .It was so good , we ate here instead. They have proper Bakewell Pudding yummy! There is free parking, you get a permit from the pub to pop onto your dashboard. We will certainly be returning and can't recommend it enough👍😊

Great food served in generous portions. If you're one with a small appetite, the portions can be shared. The ambience is nice and cozy and the pub is perfect for chilling out after a long hike at Mam Tor. Some tips:1. Book a table ahead. As you can imagine, Castleton is a small town with a handful of food places that get booked fast. Reserve a table at this popular spot to avoid disappointment. Call them to get a swift response re your booking.2. Book a room here as well if you're planning a weekend in Castleton. The location is great and very accessible. The last thing you want after a long hike is to keep walking from your b&b to the restaurant or pub. Also, the location is accessible enough if you don't have a car.

Fab pub for food and beer in Castleton! We ate there first night of our weekend and we were lucky to get a seat. Great selection of beers, wide selection of home cooked foods. On the second day we got a seat by the fire with a drink, absolutely gorgeous on a snowy day. Would definitely recommend going!

If you like good beer get yourself a seat in this pub!! Make sure you order a beer board with all the beers on it! Sit back and enjoy!! We made room for some food as well, that was also great pub food. Don't know who is responsible for selecting the beers on tap but I take my hat off to them as they are a great selection. Second time I have made a visit and I have not been disappointed.
