What a wonderful place to eat and drink!!All the staff are so very welcoming and nothing is ever too much trouble. The food is exceptional and the variety throughout the day is superb. The pub is very welcoming for dogs which, in my opinion adds to the charm and relaxed atmosphere that this pub/cafe offers to all.Throughout the week there are always things going on with live music, quiz nights, speciality food evenings, Sunday lunches and a café (Seasons Café) which is open from early morning serving breakfasts and drinks through to lunches. For the more intimate/special occasions they have a restaurant upstairs in the Season’s Restaurant with wonderful views of the countryside. This is a true gem of a place which has to be tried to fully appreciate. From walkers,to cyclists, from couples to families, all are made welcome in this special place.Don’t just take my word for it, try it for yourself and I promise you will not be disappointed.

I have just read a review by someone called Jane Sharp. She gave this fabulous place a 1*. As far as I’m concerned this pub is the heartbeat of the village, run by two wonderful people who work their socks off to give every customer a fun and diverse time. If this woman was concerned about people having fun I suggest she goes to a tea shop where I’m sure the quieter atmosphere would suit her. Who puts horrible reviews like this on sites? Oh and by the way I’m just about to order for the second time this week what she calls ‘greasy food!’ Stay in your own village

Nice view from the rear window upstairs. Most of our 4 main meals were good, just the roast lamb a bit overcooked and "tough".Lovely staff & ambience but sitting downstairs can get a bit "busy".

Visited the Gate Hangs Well on a whim this afternoon, and I'm glad I did. It's dog friendly, so those who aren't a fan of four-legged friends be warned. The decor is nice, hitting a balance of rustic and modern that i love. They have a nice selection of drinks, and although the food menu isn't exactly extensive, what you receive is great quality - no surprises, just a decent version of what you asked for. The staff are friendly and there's outdoor seating for wining and dining al fresco. The Gate Hangs Well isn't overpromising anything, but it certainly delivers for that local pub experience.

Was supposed to have dinner at TGTHW, but was denied the opportunity after the chef decided to close the kitchen at 7.50 on a Saturday evening. Our group was in the bar having a drink, only to be told our table booking was null and void when we went upstairs and attempted to sit down at our reserved table. The rationale: the restaurant staff assumed we were 'no shows"!This is the third time this has happened at this particular restaurant (similar things occurred at two attempted breakfasts).Methinks this establishment is either so successful it doesn't need business, or the chef and his staff are in need of some essential customer experience training.Thankfully, another - more customer-friendly local establishment - came to the rescue. Will definitely NOT be seeking to eat at TGTHW ever again. Hopefully, nobody else has had a similar experience.

Totally faultless, great service, great food and a pleasant clientele. Our first time, but certainly not the last, even though it's a bit of a way. Well done everyone!

We visited whilst on holiday today and it was perfect. The staff were lovely, the setting is beautiful and relaxing. The Sunday lunch I had was outstanding and the children's meals were just right, so glad we visited I wish we lived closer!
