Our first visitGood news and bad news timeLimited parking but side road parking is availableBitters on draught on our visit, TT Landlord, (excellent), and WainwrightsBusy. Excellent signExcellent serviceSo why only 3 stars? On their Pickled Mushroom Instagram page and downstairs in the bar area, specials are advertised as available. Example: Chicken and Mushroom Pasta, (check their Insta page)We were told after being seated in the upstairs restaurant, these were not available in the restaurant. Queried if these were 2 separate businesses. Assured they weren'tAsked if we went downstairs, could we h have the specials advertised. Told we couldn't as kitchen was closing for service downstairs!?!After a discussion as to whether to stay or not, we ordered from the restaurant menuFood was excellent but wasn't what we wantedIn short. If you like what's on offer downstairs, stay thereIf you go upstairs to the restaurant it all becomes unnecessarily complicatedAt no point was this explained during the booking process, on arrival downstairs, in the restaurant upstairs before we were seated or indeed on their Instagram pageIt's not rocket science and should be made clear there are two separate menu'sI'd also point out it was really busy downstairs but we were one of only two tables booked into the upstairs restaurant during the time we were thereBecause of this and despite the food, service and beer choice being good, we wouldn't rush backDon't advertise what you're not prepared to deliver and make clear the menu distinctions at the point of bookingMake of this what you will

Went for a special family lunch with eight adults and three young children and had the room upstairs. Lovley staff and nothing was too much trouble. The decor and ambience made it even more an enjoyable afternoon. The food was very good and well presented 👍😊

My son took me here for my birthday, lovely venue inside with a garden at the rear and seating outside both in the garden and to the side of the pub. Pleasant staff, good selection of drinks, great food prepared with skill and passion. We had olives on ice, sourdough bread with balsamic vinegar and pesto for starters which were both excellent. The sourdough bread was made at the venue by the head chef and it was lovely. The main of fish, chips and peas was equally as good as the starters, the vinegar gel was just fantastic as an accompaniment to the dish and presentation overall was spot on for me..No complaints, will definitely return to try more on the menu.

Popped in after searching ‘pubs near me’ on a long journey and not fancying motorway services this was a good shout.Easy parking, friendly staff.A good plant based menu, very reasonable prices and for a Marstons, it’s got a lot of character.Well worth the short detour.Cheers,Adam.

Fantastic food as always, I had the penne at it chicken, chorizo, goats cheese, cream and chilli oil. It had loads of chicken and sauce and was super flavoursome. Service was good. A little cold due to the fire being out of action but it didn't ruin lunch.
