Love this local! Great food, excellent small and well-prepared selection for evening meals, plus coffees and cakes for light bites; great during a local walk. Lovely decor and outside area too. Staff are friendly and personable!

Great find and lovely food. Really enjoyed our first visit, the food was great and the staff fantastic. We both had the breakfast and it was made with local ingredients and very well presented.

The food here is always excellent and inventive. The soups are delicious, all the main courses are wonderfully cooked with marvellous vegetables as welll as fish and meat. The vegetarian options are equally good. The service is always very friendly.Compared to a number of other local establishments with much higher prices, and much more "pretentious" cooking, it stands out as the best food and the best value. We have been here on a large number of occasions for lunch as well as supper.Highly recommended and well worth a visit.

A great place to eat. The menu and the food are just excellent. Once you order, sit back, relax and wait for what will be a tasty plate. Good quality and staff are also lovely.

Fabulous local restaurant using where possible locally sourced products. Been here 4 times now and never had a bad meal. Menu changes regularly to reflect the changing seasons. Located in the small hamlet of Grafton Underwood the restaurant can be found in the old post office building. Tonight's main course was venison haunch served with roasted celeriac, cavolo nero, a red cabbage puree, suet pudding containing shredded venison leg and Anna potatoes. The whole dish was amazing, particularly the shredded venison leg which had a deeply rich meaty flavour. Reasonably priced as well considering the quality of good on offer.

Incredible food! My colleagues from UK brought me here and now I'm certainly going to ask them to do it again each time I'm here. The place is small and cosy, ideal if you want to have a nice chat. Very well decorated. For dessert, I have a preference for their Sticky Pudding.

Staying away in b&b visiting family and we were recommended the sage & brook. Everything seemed to be going well until my wife pulled a rather large bone out of her ham terrine and when the waitress came over to take the plates we informed her and her response was to laugh quite loudly and say oh well, never mind and walked off! We then mentioned it to another waitress and asked her to tell the chef and she came back and said he sent his apologies! I have only complained in a restaurant twice in my life. The first was finding a bone in a homemade pie, I informed the waiter and immediately the chef came out and apologised and offered me a free desert. I'm not much of a desert person so politely declined but very much appreciated the sentiment as he seemed genuinely sorry. Tonight I can honestly say she couldn't care less from her response and facial expression. My husband's main turned up which was the beef, cooked superbly however the veg was nearly cold which was strange as the plate was red hot to the touch. Gourmet prices but good and service did not match

I came up from London for a superb lunch with the family here yesterday. We were a group of 11 but this wasn't an issue at all for staff or kitchen. Food came out hot, no one was left waiting and everything was cooked to perfection. It was also excellent value for money. The staff serving us were friendly and helpful. I booked before Xmas and communication with the restaurant was great. They were happy to accommodate any needs. Would definitely come again if nearby and we may even make it our regular for our post-Xmas catch-up.

Excellent place to go to eat or drink. Customer service was spot and the food was very tasty and a joy to eat. Trying their steak night next which is apparently brilliant according to my daughter, can't wait. Open dinner times aswell so a great place to meet.
