Beautiful country pub with stunning views. Very friendly staff. The menu was varied, the portions were generous and the food was fresh, tasty and great quality. The service was excellent. We look forward to returning and would highly recommend here.

Tue 28th June 2022What a memorable experience to visit a pub which gives exceptional customer service, extremely good food and in a truly relaxing atmosphere. By the way you feel like you’re going to be wowed from the moment you enter the car park, there is a sign welcoming guests, the carpark is spacious and tidy. We entered the pub from the front and it looks so inviting. Our party consisted of four adults with my son’s 8-year-old daughter. We were greeted by a young gentleman who asked if we had a booking, we said yes and he said “we are ready for you” and guided us to our table. A very polite young lady came to our table shortly after and greeted us, asking if we had been to the pub before. She was also interested enough to ask if we were just visiting for a meal or was it a special occasion. What a nice touch to be asked, so we replied, it was a belated birthday treat for our son. She even took the trouble to wish him Happy Birthday then proceeded to explain a little about the menu and took our drinks order. The choice of food on the menu was very acceptable and even had a few things that were a little different. I can honestly say that the food was the best we had tasted in a pub for a long time and I was so impressed that I told the staff how delighted we all where with the presentation and quality of food. I would have no hesitation in recommending this pub to my friends and if like me you enjoy good friendly service coupled with excellent food and a pleasant atmosphere then this is the place to visit.

Probably the best food I've eaten out-of a pub for many years. Service, staff and atmosphere great. Perfect size menu and something for everyone. Slight criticism but I know you'll say 'well drink something else then' but 10.50 for a glass of sauvignon blanc that's difficult to swallow considering we've all become wine experts during 'lockdown'

Absolutely fantastic place.. and what an inspirational name to celebrate our Queen’s Platinum Jubilee “LIZFEST”The band was great and kept the crowd going into the evening. Even though it got chilly, they provided copious amounts of blankets.Good street food with their special menu.. so good that we can’t wait to visit again and sample from their inspiring menu..They have accumulated an ever increasing amount of awards and when you visit you’ll understand why..A visit is a must10 stars ⭐️

I had my birthday lunch there early few weeks ago and it was fabulous. I was so happy for my birthday not to be in lockdown again, that the staff, FLO and CAM made it very special. They were very attentive and polite .My family and I were treated very well and the experience and the food was just amazing. . Absolutely Well worth a visit .

Friday night dinner to celebrate a friends birthday. Arrived at 7 for 7.30 booking, wanted us to go straight to the table which we declined. Lager was flat! Food was very poor. My camembert starter was cold, poorly presented and very uninspiring. Main course was a burnt pie which I was told was served with posh chips. When served was advise chips were an extra. To be fair they did serve chips at no cost due to their error. Husbands kebab was very rare beef. He was not advised it would be rare when he ordered, something which the waitress acknowledged she should have told him. It was stated that they would not charge for his main course but then did and then denied they had said they would not charge! To end a disastrous mealy my coffee was cold and unpleasant. Overall very disappointing evening.

A Gem hidden in the countryside. Traveling from Chester to Essex, there are not many opportunities to have a break once you are on the M6 and A14 except motorway services. Having made a guess where I would be after a couple of hours driving and thanks to Google maps I discovered The Tollemache Arms.We were made very welcome and had an excellent lunch. It was only a main course, but it was very good and I did not have the capacity to be able to sample the puddings. The only negative point was that they did not sell low or zero alcohol ale. All that was on offer was a low alcohol lager. If you are an ale drinker, then Lager has very little attraction and low alcohol ones, even less.I find that this is a common failing and I cannot understand why, because there are some excellent low alcohol ales available. The two that I prefer are Doombar (zero%) and Ghost Ship (0.4%). Greene King also do an Old Speckled Hen, but I find that a bit too 'malty' flavour. When we do that journey again we will return and hopefully try the puddings.

We came here this Mother’s Day, the restaurant and setting are beautiful. The food however was sub par to say the least. The whitebait coating was more salt than breadcrumbs, the burger was raw, more suitably described as steak tar tar. Finally, a whole jar of English mustard does not go into a Cajun chicken burger. Massive shame as our previous experiences were good.

Great food, great staff amd reasonably priced. Menu was different to advertised and not as varied but all very nice dishes! Highly recommended

Lovely staff and most of the food was great but the recent changes remind me of the Tolly from the early 2000s. The food was great with the exception of the hanger steak kebab... It's truly awful and should be removed from the menu! Honestly I've never been so let down by a dish, it was terrible especially in comparison to the pie that looked and tasted amazing. The starters were great, chips underdone but the salmon starter was perfect, great concept and I'd recommend it for sure. Wine is good but expensive, the still water is also £4 a bottle which is greedy.
