Dakshin in Leicester

The food is not bad but you wouldn't be blown away by it. The staff are okay, the have a decent level of professionalism that you see everywhere. For a small restaurant you may one of the staff speaking fairly loudly but it gets the job done. I have no complaints about this place. If you curious as to how the food tastes I would definitely give it a shot. The food you get will usually fill you up if you have a dosa.

Used to be one of my favourite places to eat, been living in the North East and came down especially for this. Certainly has gone downhill in the last 1-2 years. Food is decent but nothing overwhelming - you get what you pay for. Let down by the staff, manager/chef.We went in a lunchtime service, not tremendously busy, my party of two plus a party of three to be seated, looked like there were three or four tables finishing up.Clear that right from the offset the waiting staff were unclear on our order. We were sat on a tiny table for two (although no longer mandatory, definitely no social distancing, felt very cramped).There was admittingly a mistake in bringing out our dishes (it happens), the chef came out to resolve the issue but instead raised his voice and told us we were being rude by pointing out the error of the service staff and pushed my plate. Pointing and flapping his arms all over our food abruptly saying that he could not apologise for that as it was [his] 'normal attitude', very intimidating experience to be honest.Couldn't finish my food as genuinely scary experience to have a grown man shout at me.

Like the name suggests dakshin (south) Indian dishes are great excellent dhosas and sambhar, but other dishes like curryes were let down. If you are going for south dish I would recommend it but not for North Indian dishes.

Fresh hot cooked food....the place was packed out says it all about its reputation. Excellent place to eat Indo Chinese south Indian food. will visit again for sure.

If you ever tried Disappeared elsewhere and you were disappointed then Dalwhinnie Place is for you. I've myself tried Dosa many places however, you cannot beat the taste here. So, Tasty, affordable, cosy environment. Highly recommended.

I would not recommend this place. we went there and there the food was not bad until we there was a hair. we asked to replace the food and they did right away. there were 8 of us and there were only 4 people tables we asked if we could sit together by putting the chairs together but they simply just refused. the paneer dosa was tasteless and that’s where i found the hair.

Delicious South Indian food. Ghee Dosa was simply wow. Must go place.

Wonderful service and decent prices good for family night outs. Me and my family got masala dosa and mango lassi and a starter of chill chips and bagi 65

It is a good place. However, floor was very slippery and toilets not good at all. 3 star is only for authentic South Indian food.

It gets 4 stars for delicious Pure Veg South Indian cuisine. It had all those aromas and same taste as you would find in an Indian tiffin centre in Southern India. Service was pretty quick but we were the only customers. Staff are polite and friendly. The food was nice and fresh, which it should be with Indian food particularly the items we ordered like Dosa, Utappam. The starter which was Dahi Puri, tasted excellent and had the right amount of spice to tickle the taste buds in nice way. Nice interiors but only gripe was the toilet as it was not clean!
