My local when I'm in town. Love the snug and the den and the atmosphere. The food is very good too. A pub full of history. Lovely to sit outside and watch the world go by.

·

Good selection of well-kept cask ales. Good food. Handy for the shopping centre, cathedral and Richard III museum

·

Great welcome from staff who seem genuinely interested in talking to you and getting to know their customers. The place was clean and warm, well organised and with plenty of both space and character. It is reasonably prices and the selection of draft beers is great and changes regularly.

·

Impressed with the selection of cask ales as well as accepting a discount for CAMRA members.

Had a drink there with my friend at lunch time. It was quite busy, but tables were spaced out which was good. We found a table by the Christmas tree and were able to have a drink and conversation without feeling we were on top of other customers. Very pleasant. Would recommend.

Found this on the off chance, while looking for somewhere to have meal.I wasn't disappointed, the food was fantastic, all local produce and freshly cooked, the portions were just the right. The belly pork was so soft and melted in your mouth, brandy and Stilton mushrooms, were lush and the strawberry and prosecco cheesecake was so light and fluffy.Lovely friendly and welcoming atmosphere, all the staff were very attentive and friendly, especially the lady who we believed was the landlady.I can't recommend this place highly enough, you need to visit.

Great atmosphere, friendly and welcoming staff and delicious food!Fantastic range of Vegan items also, including dessert and a great drink selection!A lovely gentleman was working upstaira last night (20/11/21) - so sorry, we didn't catch your name!He had a few other servers working with him, but on some occasions was working single handedly behind the bar, taking orders, serving drinks AND serving food and was so lovely, informative and friendly throughout our visit! Thanks so much for giving us a great dining experience!

Called in here for lunch, staff were pleasant. Ordered a couple of baguettes as menu is rather pricey. 9 quid per baguette. Here comes the review on food...Fish baguette seemed fine, chips were seasoned but with added salt (the wife likes salt on her chips but I don't. If menu had stated this I would have requested the salt not to be added). Proper home made chips too so was pleased with this aspect. I ordered a chicken and bacon baguette. This is where the food went downhill. What I expected was chicken chunks around 1cm Squared in size and accompanied with a strip of bacon on the top and possibly a side of pesto in a ramekin. Instead I received a cold jumble that looked like it had already been chewed. The bacon (when I finally found some) was a 1mm lardon that fell through the fork and onto the floor. Alas I had no bacon.Beautiful building, friendly staff but overpriced for something we could have had better in a Wetherspoons. Overall I think if they rethink how the baguettes are constructed it would be worthwhile.
