YO! Sushi - Highcross Leicester in Leicester

Went to a sushi class lead by Nimisha and has a great time, she was a great teacher and took time to personally help and encourage us. Received a certificate and got to keep all the sushi we made. Great value for money and loved the experience

We did the sushi making class, The head chef was lovely and couldn't have made the experience more fun, we made two sushi rolls and one hand roll, we got a free drink of our choice and some gyoza to eat during the class, the class was fun and I learnt a lot. Nimi the head shef also showed us how you prepare the salmon for sushi which I don't think was included in the class but was super interesting and great to see. We sat and ate the sushi afterwards 😊

Enjoying the meat free chicken katsu curry, glad it's available as the tofu version was removed and only pumpkin was on for ages. Polite staff. Knocked one star off as not up to the normal clean standards.

We had a Yo Sushi, sushi making class and it was amazing.Nimi the head chef was really friendly and explained everything really well.We got free drinks and gyoza's at the start of the evening, and at the end of the class, Nimi showed us how to cut salmon for the sushi and gave us the rolling mats to take home.

Lovely place. I ordered veggie Fresh yakisoba noodles, fries and dynamite roll. It is a very good idea for a brunch 7/10

I used to love this place but, unfortunately it has gone downhill since covid. "New" menu not great. The best thing on the menu was the Yo Fries but they've had a "glow up"... It's fries with spicy mayo on top now. Prices have gone up too and service was poor. Barely a smile in the place. Shame.

Earlier this year review: Great food, stools were a little awkward as I'm short. But the food was amazing!!June 2022 update: I visited Yo! Sushi again last weekend (5th June 2022) and it was wonderful! I ordered a large katsu curry which I thoroughly enjoyed.My partner ordered prawn katsu and rice, which he liked. And he ordered two dishes of seafood sushi (right) and I ordered mochi ice cream dishes, as well as spicy katsu sushi )which is out of shot) which wasn't as spicy as last time, less sauce this time. But it goes beyond my expectations every time. ❤ thanks Yo!

Service abysmal. Waitress rolled her eyes and huffed when we asked for a booth seat.Edamame was old and tired like it had been sat out for hours.Trying to get the attention of staff was difficult (hey YO! Bring back the traditional buzzers) and when they finally came over it felt like an inconvenience.Service charge was stealthily placed on my bill (7.5%) which I would not have paid if i had noticed because the staff were terrible.

The food was mediocre. For example, we ordered the beef teriyaki. It had absolutely no flavor and tasted a bit burnt. The only saving grace were the Yo Fires. They were amazing.The environment felt clean and well maintained but the service felt slow. Everything seemed to take ages to get to us. Of course, we understand there is a bit of a shortage of staff right now which I am taking into account because I cannot fault the staffs professionalism. No one was moving slow or taking their time. I could see everyone was moving with purpose to provide the best service.However, when you go to a restaurant, you go for food and an experience. The flavor of the food wasn’t there, but the staffs work ethic was great, which is why I am only giving three stars. And Yo! should be grateful to their team for such a ‘high’ score.

Our absolute favourite place to go out for any occasion. Simple quick lunch. A simple dinner. Or to entertain friends and family, romantic meal day or night. It never disappoints!This is our first visit to Leicester branch. Previously been Cambridge and Norwich for our locals. If anything Leicester was even better! Staff, warm, friendly, inviting, charming, helpful and knowledgeable. Wife variety of drinks from Saki to beers. Non alcoholic beverages a plenty too.Menu, as ever. Vast. Varied and always delicious! Combines the perfect amount of sushi to cooked (in from my of you! Fresh!) Choices. Vegan or vegetarian have vast choices too.But for me. It the seafood and sushi. Always delivers. Can honestly say, in 12 years of going to YO!(sushi) I've never had a bad meal, a dish I hadn't liked or anything to complain about! And it's not like I visit once a year. Minimum once a month myself and my wife and friends and family attend.No where else I can say that about! Let alone somewhere I use so often!Don't ever change YO! Leicester YO sushi! Well be back VERY soon!
