although we booked, when we got there we had no booking?? apart from that the food was very nice and beautifully cooked, we thoroughly enjoyed our meals, the place could do with a bit of a spruce up, but I think this is in pipeline, will definately be returning.

We were a party of six including two children. Our meals were really nice and our youngest granddaughter who is six... announced that she had the best homemade fish fingers and chips she ever had. She ate the lot. Will definitely go back.

Went for a family lunch, was really impressed with the food. Fish was perfectly cooked. We had a table in a lovely cosy room overlooking steep hill. Good selection of ales also. Building is really special and we'll worth a visit

This is one of the best pubs/restaurants in Lincoln. The food is always exceptional, very tasty, well present and with a fair price. They prepare international fishes which are changed frequently. Their casseroles are probably my favourite dish. Absolutely delicious 🤤.

A real disappointment to be honest, come as part of part of group that have been coming bi monthly for 6+ years , sadly this our last. Seems to have changed ownership and most of the staff . 12 of us preordered food on a quiet Friday and we're due to eat at 6 . 540 a very rude waiter came to hassle us as to where the rest of the party were when we said we didn't know ( frankly we were not concerned given 20 mins before eating) he snapped "do you not have phones ? We do have other customers " and walked off. Food pricey now please note the fixed priced menus shown on the photos no longer apply and it is Al a carte and some good some average and pretty small ( expect no extras - sausage and mash is just that- no veg ! ) icing on the cake was £10.10 for a glass of ok wine ! Great Shame but seem to have gone london prices and service and the decor and toilets are scruffy and dirty in parts, however the one young lady who was there with previous owners remains just the same , totally polite helpful and very hard working , shame about her colleague.

I'm awarding three stars as I'm feeling generous. Ten plus years ago this was quite the place to be seen and I had some wild, champagne fueled, evenings here, often chatting to M and sometimes V, the owners; today it is almost embarrassing. I cringed at the service, the food, and the décor.Perhaps they forgot today was a bank holiday Monday and only rota'd the normal Monday staff. It was busy at lunch and the only member of staff front of house was not embracing the challenge. The couple next to us left after their order failed to be taken (ours was taken before theirs yet they arrived before us) to which the staff member quite audibly quipped, "Leaving? Yeah, I would too!"The haddock and chips my guest ordered was average to poor. My French onion soup was too poor to merit any kind of description that would compare it to actual French onion soup.An unrivalled location but that alone should not be the laurels on which this business rests.(Photo taken before I had begun eating.)

Attended the restaurant yesterday (3.12.21). Atmosphere is lovely, staff are excellent, but slightly pricey for what's on offer.I'm a vegetarian, and extremely disappointed with the options. I cannot stand the taste of risotto (personal preference; tastes like baby food) and am not a big fan of mushrooms. Would've been nice for a few more options or options that can be made vegetarian/vegan.Ended up having the souffle, which was a starter. Small - obviously - because it's a starter, but delicious and cheesy; though no cranberry taste to it.Overall I'd probably not go back for food if I were in the area, but the drinks were absolutely reasonable and the service was good too.

Regretfully I visited this establishment at the weekend with 5 of my family membersWe Ordered 6 drinks, one of which was an espresso martiniWe saw the bartender, Mark place his dirty fingers inside the glass after making the drink, in attempt to clean the inside of the glass !!!Disgusting and highly unacceptable especially during a global pandemic !!We luckily spotted this and asked for the drink to me re-made, and stood waiting at the bar watching the same bartender pass sarcastic remarks to his colleague as he was clearly upset and riled that we had asked for the drink to be re-made despite Him being in complete BREACH of basic food hygiene regulations.I was disgusted and appalled at his attitudeI will be reporting this to the EHO and the FSA and hopefully this can be taken up further with the management at the place so that other customers do not have the experience that we had. They need to be conducting an inspection and mystery shop here ASAPIf you are visiting - Please WATCH YOUR DRINKS being made as they could be seriously injurious to your healthMust say the lady that I expressed this to was completely sympathetic and understanding and made our drink to correct hygiene standards

Tried ringing on 4/12/21 to reserve a table for lunch for 3 people.Left a voice message with contact details and tried ringing 3 times during opening hours,no one answered or returned my call.Went to the Duke William instead and had a great meal.Thanks for nothing.

Such a beautiful building! Only let down by a lack of card machine.They do have a no phones rule, maybe only upstairs? But once you get past that it’s a nice setting.Definitely go with someone you want to and can have a conversation with!!
