Bold Forester in Mansfield

Went for a lunch with my 15 year old son he had a steak sizzler and I had a halloumi sizzler, just the right amount for a lunch. My lad also had mac'n'cheese as a side - he said it was gorgeous.

Great atmosphere, friendly pub, cheap great quality food, great pun grub, good sized meals, friendly staff and great all round pub for drink or for a meal.Family friendly too

Stopped for breakfast. 3 large 3 small. Everyone commented on on how hot and fresh the food was. Service was excellent. Absolutely on the ball. Toast a little crisp but that's just my personal preference.

Appalling service from staff on entering. Had booked a sports table specifically to watch the rugby and have a nice meal at the same time, to be told there was no table for us despite having a confirmation of the booking. The attitude of a certain member of staff was arrogant, rude and obnoxious. Would never return to this dump even if we did eventually get an apology. An apology was all it would have took.

A nice enough place, but also a typical chain eatery type of pub.We got caught out as we walked in the main entrance as when I stood with my little one (2.5yo) we were informed that it was 18's+ only, so had to move to a different area of the pub away from the rest of the group. It'd make more sense for over 18's to be in a different area after walking through the main entrance.We only had drinks (no food) so I can't comment how good that might be.

Only gave one star because l couldn't leave none ..Visited Saturday 19th at 8pm.After receiving good service at various Hungry Horse pubs in Nottingham,my partner and l decided to go for a meal at The Bold Forester.Large car park with plenty of room.Inside seemed quite busy,mainly football watchers,as the Man City/Spurs game had been on.Found a table for two,and preceded to check out the menu.Tried to use the app,as advised,but couldn't get an internet connection so l went to the bar to order.Waited quite a while as there was only one barman serving,strange for a Saturday night.Eventually he got around to serving me l asked if l could order some food.Well,with the look on his face you'd have thought l was wearing a Derby shirt in the City Ground.He then explained they'd not got the staff or time to produce any food.So,all in all a terrible first,and last visit to this place.

Absolutely wonderful Christmas Dinner. The staff were by far the best.

Great little pub with a superb selection of foods and drinks. Lovely setting inside and friendly and approachable staff always willing to help. Ideal for all from kids to couples and families to beyond. Highly recommended and fair price. Also show sports as well on TV so if your into football or f1 it's an ideal place in a separate area of the pub. Plenty of parking and outdoor seating
