The picture is my review from a year ago.My new review:Absolutely gutted at being glutened when my friend took me to for afternoon tea for a birthday treat lasr month. My friend went to the trouble of researching gluten free places and we were even told that one of there staff is coeliac".Everything was going great I was given my "gluten free" three tier afternoon tea server and my friend was given her normal one (I was so pleased I didn't even mention to the waitress that she actual said to my friend "are you the normal one").We started eating our sandwiches and scones, my friend didn't look too thrilled as they had given her a huge slab of chocolate cake which she doesn't like so I asked the waitress if my friend could have something different, she said it wouldn't be a problem and disappeared for a few minutes, then the chef comes over and explains that he's put the wrong cake on the wrong plate and casually swaps them over, at this point I lost all confidence and stopped eating, we had a word with the manager on shift who was very polite and I explained the importance of cross contamination, once I drove the short distance home I realised I must have eaten food containing gluten as I had sickness and diarrhoea and was terribly bloated, I messaged Browns to give them the chance to make things right and was told someone would get back to me, still waiting.

Food was lovely we had the afternoon tea.. Very fresh and plentiful and we were able to take some home in boxes. Sadly cocktails were not up to scratch and staff were not very inviting or efficient ... 30 mins before we had been served drinks. Hopefully we just went on an off day as many forms rave about this place!

Love this place! It's in a nice area, the staff are brilliant. A nice heated smoking are, outdoor bar and plenty of outdoor seating.They had board games when we went last which was really fun. The food and drinks are beautiful.

Started off great with an amazing platter, however our afternoon was spoiled when we ordered our main, no one checked up on us to confirm how our food was, I ate nothing but two pieces of broccoli and a taste of the chicken as I was absolutely not happy with the food and so didn't eat it, our plates were taken away and our bill came. I walked up to the lady at the bar to explain I didn't eat my main and so was hoping for a compromise on the bill for this, why pay for something you didn't eat? The normal standard in restaurants...they told me they wouldn't normally do anything for something like this. I went back to my seat as I assumed they were going to try and sort something for us. No one came to our table to let us know they weren't happy with changing the bill and they did nothing to reduce the large bill even though they have a 50% off food for Jan offer out. Just absolutely rubbish customer service to accommodate customers. What a shame it ended like that after such a good start. Very unfriendly. Won't be visiting again.

Great atmosphere and friendly and welcoming staff. Food is very reasonable for the cost as well. The happy hour for cocktails makes it a great place to warm up for a night. That being said you could easily spend your entire night here and not be disappointed.

Booked that morning for an afternoon tea having seen good reviews on line and we we're not disappointed! Great venue, calm and serene enough for afternoon tea but busy enough to be exciting! We ordered the tea for 2 and thankfully we had a 3rd person so help us as it was very filling, so much so that we couldn't finish off the large chocolate cake slices that were brought out :) Would highly recommend for £13 in the Mansfield area!
