Fox and Hounds in Melton

Where do I start with this absolute gem of a place! From being greeted by friendly warm smiles to leaving feeling like a village-dwelling regular this pub is worth a trip out. I’ve been several times with my husband (and our much loved Lab Vince) as well as with friends who love good food and we are yet to leave disappointed. The menu is small but with a dish for everyone be you a meat lover, vegetarian or landing in between. From a tiny kitchen great dishes are creatively produced. It’s quality over quantity; portion sizes are a moot point when each mouthful is bursting with flavour. Sunday dinners are exceptional with beef you can cut with a spoon, pork belly with crispy crackling or try a cod loin if you want something less traditional. The starters are light so you can enjoy three courses and believe me you want to. Today I enjoyed a dessert of baked custard and apricot jam (with homemade shortbread) This pub does it all; quaint with low beamed ceilings for a cosy feel, a lovely choice of outside spaces in the summer and local/fresh/seasonal ingredients to show off the chefs obvious passion for cooking. The drinks also hail from a local/ British Isles provenance which is nice to see. The couple running this place clearly love what they do and it shines through; we will keep coming back to enjoy the delights on future menus!

Excellent place fantastic staff loves the beer

Had our first meal here on Friday lunchtime. The food was absolutely superb. Great service too. If I was being really picky, it would have been nice to have been told what the cheeses were on the cheeseboard. It was just put down on the table without any information re what cheeses we were eating. Will be returning though.

Rather over priced!!! £7 for an omelette with no side salad or even a garnish!! £8 for a sweet!! Food was very nice though 🧐👍

Excellent beer selection, including Parish brewery located next door! Ate from lunch menu - all cooked fresh to order. Great stop-off for lunch after Burrough Hill iron age hill fort.

Excellent value with great cooking. Went for Sunday lunch, the gravy was fantastic which gives us a lot of hope for the success etc on a non Sunday menu. Great stuff and such a welcoming pub.

Had a really lovely meal. Fantastic drinks, atmosphere and food. The staff were great and we were looked after well. The standard of the food was amazing and really a top notch dining experience.

Nice cosy pub, portions small, but tasty. Not much choice for vegetarians. Staff lovely.
