Great hotel but real value is offered by the staff. Looked after by Lauren and Molly for drinks and food. Complements to the catering team and the front of house reps.

Absolutely loved this hotel every time I go ithe experience just gets better and better. Took my friend for a birthday treat and we had an absolutely banging lunch. To finish off we had coffee and walnut and carrot cake with a hot drink that was absolutely worth the Cal. Service is 100%. Ambience is relaxed but luxurious. On saying this I felt the price of our lunch was reasonable and well worth the money. It was very busy when we went and I had booked a table Prior. A must do while you're in Uppingham is to browse the high street and explore the Alley ways.

Wonderful evening here for a formal function. Most pleasant and obliging staff, great food and a comfortable bed. What more could you want?

Went for their Christmas Dinner Event. Food and Atmosphere was great and we loved the disco which had us dancing to the end of the night. Thanks for having us!

Stayed at this hotel with two friends who have been before. We both had the "dog friendly" accommodation as we each have two small dogs. Our room was good with a lovely, comfortable mattress and pillows. Bathroom was big and I, initially, did not realise it was a bathroom designed for the disabled. The toilet had no lid which I found very unpleasant. Also, in a reasonably upmarket hotel, I would hope to find a magnifying wall mirror. With poor eyesight, I had thought to bring my own but there was nowhere to stand it. The lighting was too poor in the bedroom. I queried the "no toilet seat" in reception and was told that was regulations. Google told me otherwise! Surely, if the excuse it may be difficult for a disabled person to lift a lid, they would just leave it up🤗. No brainier really. Just found it really distasteful to be looking into a toilet especially one that did not always flush first time😡.The other reason I only gave the hotel 4 ⭐️S was that we had a meal at dinner one night and it was extremely poor value for money. My partner's and mine steak sandwich was most disappointing, there were only four miserly overdone thin strips of steak which cost us £14.50p. (We had eaten, the previous night at a restaurant owned by the hotel in the square, had an open steak sandwich for the same price which was excellent! ). Our friend had a salmon fillet which was not much bigger than a fish finger and that was £18. We did complain to the waiter but he just said "sorry about that and walked away😤".Overall, we all enjoyed our stay. The cost of our room, with 2 dogs and a fantastic breakfast, was very reasonable for a midweek stay. Our room was in the courtyard and the gardens were beautifully designed with lots of seating areas - would be delightful in the warmer weather.

Just returned from a 2 nights stay. The room was nice, the food was good but pricey and the location was great. However, because we had a dog with us, we were confined to the Tap room for breakfast and dinner, which made us feel really isolated as we were the only one in there while the other residents were relaxing in the more inviting lounge and restaurant. For that reason also, our breakfast experiences were tarnished as we felt forgotten in our lonely breakfast room. The staff, although nice and smiling, were clearly lacking training: no milk with coffee, serving toasts without bringing butter, no salt and pepper on the table…which are trivial but they happened all on both mornings, which was irritating! So would I recommend this place? yes …but this is not dog friendly.

We had a roast lunch. Very good food, although the veg was a bit firmer than al dente for some of our party. Very good portion sizes and good desserts. Should consider offering a gluten free Yorkshire pudding and gravy option. 😋
