Farndon Boathouse in Newark and Sherwood

Firstly my respect to the management for there response to my complaint today.However I must stress that I have never been served such awful fish and chips in any restaurant in my entire life.I would have taken a picture of the 4 disgraceful meals as they arrived but I felt having such a vision would be pointless. Easier to just forget.So in conclusion the food was awful but management responded appropriately.Secondly however I have never seen such a poor selection of food on a menu. The reason we all ordered fish and chips was because the choice was terrible.My rating is aimed at the food not the staff who served us or the management.Maybe they just need a new chef if indeed they have one because no chef would send something as bad as that meal out.I will visit again maybe and I would hope that the fish and chips next time are edible and presentable for consumption.Also it would be an idea to take a long hard luck at the menu as it needs work.

Unfortunately when I visited the food was awful and the service took over an hour. I went with family, there were 6 of us only two ate their meals at all (they had fish and chips which was nice). The other meals were under or over cooked and just tasted bad! Staff were apologetic and friendly - perhaps it was a different chef or a particularly bad day for them because the other reviews seem good.

Lovely meal this evening with my daughters and one other.Excellent value for money 😊Menu to suit everyone and all dietary requirements catered for.The portions were slightly smaller than expected however….The service from Harriet was excellent 👌I would definitely recommend a visit.To say it was a Monday night early doors the atmosphere was buzzing.Praise to the management and the chef for the great food!Will definitely be back!!100% would recommend!

This place has always been on my list of restaurants to visit, and boy was I glad I did.I will start with my only negative, and this negative is unfortunately not something that could have been avoided. I booked in advance (only a day in advance to be fair) for my partner and I for our anniversary meal, we asked and were told the tapas was available. However, one of their chefs had walked out and naturally they couldn't accommodate. The front of house (a very kind and attentive lady) offered us breads and oils on the house and this was very kindly received and accepted.The rest of everything is literally flawless. The ambience is brilliant, the food is beyond scrummy and it is one of the nicest places we have been.You will not regret eating here! I will be returning (to try the tapas) amongst other menus!

Wonderful welcome, great table with view to The Trent. Took advantage of the 50% off menu deal. Starters were beautifully presented and prepared. Chilean Sauvignon Blanc was refreshing. Three of us had Burgers and one had the fish & chips all a challenge but beautifully cooked.Two of us had room for the apple crumble. The room soon filled up and the staff although busy were helpful and attentive. Well done to all the team

Fantastic stop off for a meal after a great walk along the river. The staff were friendly and welcoming of my wife, my daughter and me. We took advantage of the phenomenal January sale offer where all food is half price (at certain times, check before you go). The Risotto, burger and the bangers and mash were all very well received and we'll definitely be heading back to make sure we can try the fish and chips which looked great but had sold out on the day.

Wonderful Christmas Day lunch. First time ever eating out on Christmas Day and we were not disappointed. The food, wine and staff were superb. We were made to feel very welcome. The atmosphere was lovely. Thank you one and all.

Wonderful vegan Sunday roast and chocolate tart with raspberry sorbet. The kids loved their roast chicken and chocolate Brownies too. Also the staff were very accommodating squeezing us in last minute without a booking.

17:00 on a Monday - Popped in on the off chance as we had heard it was a good place to eat and we were in no rush and fancied somewhere different (to us).We had the Fish and chips and the Thai Fish Bowl with Bread and butter. Both meals were delicious and piping hot.Light Fluffy batter on the fish and a lovely Tartar SauceThe Thai Fish bowl was just big enough and there was abundant seafood in it.We made do with the offered bottle of water to wash it down, and we had no room for anything else.One thing to note was a 10% service charge automatically added to the final bill.

The menu is great and the food is super tasty.The waitress Jo went above and beyond, a lovely lady and great service, thanks Jo.The tapas and wood fired pizza's are amazing.The 4 mile circular walk around the river and Marina is really nice , starting at the The Farndon Ferry with coffee and finishing back there for lunch made this the perfect day.Highly recommend and will be returning in the near future.
