Very nice village pub with good selection of drinks including guest beers. Haven't eaten here but the specials sounded really nice and I've heard if you don't book for Sunday lunch then you're likely not to get in on a Sunday.Update: Have enjoyed Sunday lunch here, definitely have to book to guarantee a table. Limited menu on a Sunday with one fish and one vegetarian choice plus three meat choices. Lots of nice sounding desserts but we were full from the main courses which came with plenty of vegetables.

Stayed here on the 9th October, a lovely and pleasant welcome on arrival. And it didn't end there. We sat in the beautiful outdoor area. Enjoying the peace and quiet. Only to have one of the pleasant staff come round and take another drinks order. Also supplied us with a menu for our meal later. The food is absolutely fabulous. A good variety and fair prices as well. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. (slept like a log). Breakfast was to die for. Full English, and nothing was any trouble for this hotel. They would definitely get a 10/10 from all four guests that stayed that evening. And i would also like to congratulate the owners and staff for thinking outside the box, and supplying a meals on wheels service for the old and vulnerable. Which even today they are still operating. Again i would like to thank you all for a very pleasant and enjoyable stay.

This pub was recommended to as i dont live locally. I found it to be warm friendly welcoming. They had a good selection of beers and food both of which were first class. I recommend this pub and will visit again when in the area.

Staff kindly fitted us in, since we hadn't booked. Fab Sunday lunch. Roast beef was simply superb - generous and pink, accompanied by crispy roast potatoes, fluffy Yorkshire pudding and lovely hot seasonal veg. Salmon also great with tasty hollandaise.Mama's homemade apple and blackberry crumble was definitely the pick of the puds, although my wife would disagree - she had the peacan and caramel ice cream.Lord Nelson best bitter very well kept, Aspall's cider crisp and dry.Dogs were very welcome; fussed, treated, and generally treated like royalty (as they should be) πIt's hard to pick a pub for lunch when you're not local, but this was definitely a good choice. All in all, a perfect couple of hours in a peaceful pub garden.Thank you Lord Nelson team.

This is a nice place if your down Besthorpe way. Nice big beer garden and a good selection of real ales. They have a couple of rooms to stay in which I thought were good value for what you got. The room's are in good condition and clean, nice and fresh.Breakfast was good value as is all the food here. I've eaten here a few times and the menu is traditional pub food freshly cooked and tasty.Service is friendly, personable and efficient. One slight thing is that although the pub has a nautical theme throughout, it's mainly focused on Nelson ( The sailor not the simpsons character) So if you're hoping to catch sight of a pirate or two I'm afraid you will need to make do with England's finest admiral turning a blind eye. This is a nice local pub with a friendly atmosphere and a nice crowd. The pub has been providing a valuable local community service throughout lockdown. Would definitely recommend giving it a go.

Lovely little inn & pub. Never had a room here, only been for a drink and not tried the food yet. We stay near here every year and have tried a few pubs, but hadn't tried here before tonight. What a lovely place. Fantastic little beer garden round back with plenty of seating, decent selection of drinks, can order on an app (if you know the WiFi password) Etc. Overall a lovely little pub, and well definitely be coming back here whenever we're in the area.

We stopped in here for a quick drink after a day out and i'm really glad we did. There's a great selection of beers, friendly staff and a nicely laid out (and recently refurbished) pub and beer garden. Can't wait to come back and try the food.
