Rose Orchard in Newark and Sherwood

We stayed at this beautiful local Airbnb around the corner in Cottage Lane who recommended this restaurant and we are really glad they did. It was absolutely one of the tastiest chinese meals we have had a a long while, and the lovely friendly service we recieved was given with a big smile and also provided us with some lovely conversation, which was lovely as we are out of towners and was only here for a weekend away. when we come back this way again, we will definately be popping by for another meal. Thank you all. Highly recommend.

I ordered from here last night told them all our food was cold and they just said nothing we can do the worst customer service I’ve ever seen and were regulars I get food from here at least once a week

Lovely meal out, and staff went the extra mile, really friendly and efficient throughout the experience. Food was delicious and brought out piping hot. We had people in the group that are not so keen on Chinese food, brilliant staff worked with us to provide a more English alternative which our grandparent enjoyed while the rest of us tucked into favourites. Great find, would come again x

I had salt and pepper squid starter. The seasoning was all that was good about it because the batter was rock hard hiding tiny amounts of squid within it. I also ordered chicken and cashew nuts in yellow bean sauce. This is a really nice dish when done correctly but Rose Orchard failed miserably. The sauce was nondescript and as for the chicken and cashew nuts they were burnt. Fried rice was ok though.

First meal out in 18 months, lovely food, great staff. Thank you for a nice evening.

Just Had Another Amazing Meal From Here. Great Food, Only Took 15 Minutes From Ordering To Our Order Being Ready, And It Is Really Reasonably Priced.Also Not Super Greasy Or Fatty. Lovely All Round And Our Not So Guilty Pleasure. Especially The Chicken In Orange And Egg Fried Rice

There are two sides to this review.TL;DR: The food is always good, provided you get everything you asked for and you haven't had to wait for ages.Now if you want a bit more information, we have been going to this place for a while. We like it but it's slowly getting harder to order. The phone is regularly engaged and when someone does answer the phone, the restaurant is so loud the person on the other end of the phone can't hear you so you end up having to shout.As I said, the food is very good. Unlike a lot of Chinese restaurants, they actually put a nice bit of spice into the spicy dishes. Being good food, that is why I expect it to be so loud and so popular.I would encourage you to go but if the restaurant reads this I would encourage them to take this advice:- Hire more staff, please! You will start to lose customers if you can't keep up with demand (unless that's what your goal is)- Invest in an area that phone calls can be taken that are easier to receive than in the middle of the bar.- Please set up online ordering. If you don't want to get more front staff, this will help you with so many phone calls.

The food here is great but the management is absolutely appalling. To be sat waiting for two and a half hours watching other people actually walk out and leave. Then you ask what has happened to your food you are told that a big take away order came in and things went wrong. Fair enough but how about letting us know instead of leaving us sat there. Other people got a bit of a discount but since we got our order ten minutes before them (Despite the fact that we ordered twenty minutes before them). No discount for us. Not even a free drink. Just told from the owner that there is nothing she can do and given our bill back. Still so angry. And the floor show of a little staff meeting in front of the remaining customers discussing what went wrong wasn't great either. Definitely not going back nor will I recommend

My wife and I are on holiday in the area and were looking for somewhere to eat at 9 on a Sunday night - as you can imagine the number of places serving food was very limited but we decided to try the Rose Orchard and weren't disappointed.Apart from people drinking in the bar area the restaurant was quiet. The staff were very friendly and our meals arrived quickly. The food was excellent and the prices were reasonable; would definitely come again and recommend this restaurant to other people.
