Last time we visited ( a couple of years ago) this was a fine in restaurant. Now it is just a take away. The quality whilst ok is not as good as it used to be. The fish a bit dry though crunchy batter.

Freshly cooked cod, hot, meaty and white.Chips from new potatoes, tasting delicious with mushy peas. Cod was good size. Price was about right (2 cod and chips, 2 mushy pea and a sausage £17)Can't really fault it. Up there with best fish n chips.4* because...Could you replace plastic forks with bamboo?Got a sausage for the dog, and it was just that.. a sausage for the dog - I wouldn't have eaten it!

Friendly staff. Fast service. Portions size is OK but fish portion more of a mini fish by comparison to our local fish and chip shops. Fish was cooked adequately, batter slightly overcooked but still nice. Sunday opening is a bonus.

The food was nice.Just wish while waiting for my food that the guy would stop staring at everyone when they are browsing at the menu while waiting for their food as if his got nothing better to do.

By chance I called into The Big Fish chip shop at ollerton round about, the shop was very clean, I sat in, I only had chip butty with large sausage, but what supprised me the chips was hot and the sausage also the colour of the chips was perfect, I did notice people around me what they was having and it looked brilliant the portions looked generous, I did speak to the lady owner and told her how much I had enjoyed my food, I would definitely give them a massive 10.This is my number 1 chippy. I have tried lot's of chippy shops, even the one at Whitby, The Big Fish at ollerton round about beat them hands down. Good luck and carry on your success. You've got to give credit where it's due and they deserve my recommendation.

Last time we were there ( ages ago ) , we dined in, so as we are now moving up this way we wanted to do the same, but they only do takeaway now, ... It's still one of the best fish n chips we have ever had, plenty of friendly staff working , so no long waits, food piping hot, big fish portions, and for a takeaway the food was put in cardboard boxes which is much better to eat out of. Excellent value for money . Highly recommend ..

Closed for good now I believe and I am not at all surprised!. When we first went here the fish and chips were okay but as time went by the standard and taste of the fish became worse and less appetising. Service and food frying was rubbish Really oily fatty greasy fish and chips and very expensive in comparison to other fish and chip shop eateries. I now see Costa coffee has taken over this place, says it all really!

called here at 4.02 yesterday, on entry was told no chips left and they were not frying any more fish ! and the two fish in the top were for some one ! no explanation was given ? just rude attitude ! site and my leaflet states 6pm closing on sundays ! gave 1 star which on past visits would have been 5 because iv always enjoyed food from this outlet !

This used to be a great place to eat out with the family, but now it's takeaway only and how disappointed we all were when we got the food home. The chips were cooked from frozen and were tasteless , soggy & certainly not crisp and golden. The fish wasn't very good either, very greasy.I'm sorry to add that I will not be revisiting the big fish and their big prices ever again . Looks like they've had their day , just a below average fish shop.

Nice fish and chips restaurant. They also serve lots of other options and very reasonably priced puddings 👍
