We visited the Old Vol yesterday for Sunday lunch. Our party was four adults and our 4 year old granddaughter. From the off we were made very welcome, not only by the team, but the fire was roaring away which apart from practical was a nice touch. The decor is very fresh and modern but blends well with the older building. Our granddaughter was given a colouring set, to which she opened straight away! There is a great choice of drinks for all, and the staff were very helpful in this department. We had starters that were lovely. Then went onto the main event...Sunday roast. 3 of us had the belly pork and my daughter and her daughter shared a roast chicken. We all agreed it was superb, my son in law is a chef and he was mightily impressed with it all.It is what I call a "proper" roast, all the trimmings, vegetables, Yorkshire puddings, roasties, gravy, all well cooked with great flavour. We managed another drink, and despite the desserts looking lovely we couldn't manage any more! The team were superb, very helpful and professional but made for a very relaxed atmosphere. One nice touch that I've never seen before was a note and background of all six chefs that create the marvellous dishes.I can understand why there is a waiting list to get a table. There is work being done on the outside area that looks as though it will cater for more in the summer, if not before. We shall be back and we would certainly continue to recommend it to all our friends. Thanks to the team for a lovely time.

We have been a couple of times in the past few weeks for lunch and each time we were delighted with the quality of food and service. In particular, the haddock and chips (cooked in beef dripping) are wonderful and a very generous portion. A good range of drinks at fair prices. The staff are polite, engaging and attentive. Highly recommended. We will return again soon.

Was booked in for Sunday dinner. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the friendly staff and shown to our table. Drinks and food orders were taken efficiently by staff and had the food to our table very quickly. We had the Ultimate Roast which consisted of chicken, pork belly and beef. The meal was prepared to a impeccable standard and would 10/10 recommend to others!

Myself and my husband are regular visitors and have been for some years, but unfortunately on my recent visit I was made to feel very unwelcome and left feeling rather upset. We we're minding our own business when a very rude young girl came over and started moving our table apparently because there was a musician playing that night which she had forgotten about. It's very unfortunate that us and the customers around us had to be treated like we were in the way. She shooed us away shouting "move" and physically pushed me from my seat at one point. The rude young girl I later found out from the bar staff was one of the managers which made me feel very frustrated to see such a lovely place be lead by such a poor example. Disappointed to say the least.

The whole experience at this gorgeous restaurant was incredible from start to finish!! The staff were fantastic and the food was absolutely sensational. The dessert was so good, I ordered it again!! Will definitely be going back!! I want to give a very special thank you to Head Chef Hira Thakur who went above and beyond, with all our dietary requirements and ensuring my Mum’s birthday surprise was a huge success!

I just don’t know where to begin! The service, food, and decor is like nothing you’d expect from a pub/restaurant in a quiet part of the country! After it’s refurbishment and new management, it’s now my favourite place to eat in Nottinghamshire! The chefs there have brought amazing dining experience to Caythorpe with a modern yet relaxed twist. It’s not pretentious at all and really hits the mark! Five stars!

Came here on the choice of my Dad for his Birthday and had a wonderful time! The food was delicious and service was fantastic from Jess and Fran!! They even arranged a lovely pudding for myself and my partner who recently got married! Who could ask for more?!?!? There are some local pubs that are really hit and miss but you're definitely in for a good time at The Old Vol!

Fabulous local restaurant. New owners and amazing chef. Our waitress, Fran, was great, very knowledgeable about the menu and friendly without being overbearing. We had Venison Scotch Egg/Lobster Spring Rolls followed by Guinea Fowl/Duck puddings were delicious too. Definitely on the go to list as a regular treat.

Outstanding Pub and Restaurant sitting in a pretty rural village. Its tastefully decorated and everything is of high quality. The service is remarkable and the Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. My Husband and I visited for Sunday Lunch and the although I can say the Roast Beef was cooked to perfection with the vegetables and roast potatoes, the starter for me was a huge wow. The wine menu is lovely and we were kindly offered a new wine to try and loved it. The Pub has been closed for a short time with a change over of ownership, but these new guys are highly polished and professional with their approach and I can 100% say it will be a formidable place to be in a short time to come. I definitely recommend anyone to try the food, you will not be disappointed. Thank you for a lovely meal and a how nice to see a smile!
