Mixed review. Food wasn’t bad but wasn’t great. Dessert disappointing. We were put on the smallest table which we couldn’t even fit our food and water jug on. Also felt very rushed. Everything was very fast like they just wanted our table didn’t feel like we could just relax and enjoy our meal.

First time visit. Very welcoming and such a lovely little pub and a cosy corner to sit. We had fish and chips the only thing I didn't like was the chips which came already salted, I prefer t choose wether mine are salted or not other than that it was lovely.

Brilliant. We had a family celebration and loved it. The food is terrific and the welcome is warm.

First time visit for Sunday lunch. Beers were excellent, food was really nice. Only complaint would be that the Yorkshire puddings were like mini pancakes and noticed plates, coming out after ours, had mashed potato on! Some restaurants would have left the Yorkshire’s off rather than serve those. It still would not put me off trying again, just get some Yorkshire pudding practice.

Top notch dinner last night and really enjoyed the evening. Beautifully cooked Scallops to start, followed by a Fillet of Salmon. My wife enjoyed a Bruschetta and Sirloin steak for main course. Service was good and attentive. Great to see the new management bringing excellent standards to the pub. We shall return!

I was torn between a 3 or 4 star review, but a few small areas for improvement meant that I couldn't in good faith say it was a 4-star experience. However, to start with the positives, the experience on the whole was good and we had a very pleasant family meal. We had a Sunday roast, and the 3 people who had the nut roast were very happy with its quality and quantity. I had beef, which was one of the better beefs I have had in a restaurant - not tough or fatty and well cooked. The gravy was also excellent, and we were provided with additional jugs when we asked. The veg was generally good, the carrots especially were very sweet. Desserts were also excellent quality - the cheesecake was really creamy, and the sticky toffee pudding got rave reviews! However, a few aspects of the meal could have been better. The roast potatoes and the Yorkshire puddings were not very well cooked and could have definitely benefited from a bit longer in the oven. The food was also not all that hot when it came to the table. One of our party did not get a full complement of veg - broccoli was misisng, although it was on all other dishes. My cauliflower had a couple of small areas of what looked like black rot - we fed this back, and got the explanation from the kitchen that it was "probably just burned from the pan". We accepted the explanation but it did not look like burn, being deep inside the piece of cauliflower and being several shades of black and grey. We also didn't get this explanation without having to ask if it had been followed up.Service was quick, and staff were polite but not particularly warm, friendly or engaging. Overall a pleasant enough meal, but we would probably not return given the choice of local restaurants that we have enjoyed generally much more.

After reading all previous reviews which were excellent, we were very disappointed with our meal which was a Sunday Roast.Beef roast consisted of 2 small pieces of beef, carrots and cold hard broccoli! Yorkshire pudding which was a frozen one. Potatoes. Dribble of gravy. Asked for more gravy…….. little jug was bought to us with hardly an inch of gravy in it for four people.Certainly not value for money.Deserts were okay. Then asked for cake to take out…….. £13.50 for three slices!!

Enjoyed a lovely lunch here in the beer garden before our visit to the Japanese Garden near Newark. Very welcoming staff, very clean, good food. Will return once they can open properly indoors.
