Delicious Sunday lunch. Great atmosphere and excellent service

I have to say this has been our choice now for the last 4 visits with family fresh food cooked perfectly, family run pub with friendly helpful staff have taken my god parents, parents and will be having a birthday meal there. I always recommend this pub and would also suggest booking as it can get busyFood is of good quality recommend beef on a Sunday, creme brulee for dessert and white bait or chilli prawns or garlic mushrooms. Highly recommended

Great little country pub, lovely and cosy cottage type feel to it serving excellent home cooked food. Wide selection of gins and even a micro brewery on site. Worth a visit

This is such an amazing please if your looking for full size home made food. The land lord is amazing and makes you feel right at home. Been coming here for the last 6years and don't have a bad word to say.

Great service always, especially recently when we were a group of 10. Special dietary needs were catered for as well as 2 very happy children who loved their roast dinner

·

It is nice old pub situated in a pretty little village service is very good staff and friendly warm and welcoming. Food wise I had a meat pie which wasn't particularly great. But don't let this put you off visiting this establishment.Cheers Phil

As good as ever! Lovely Sunday lunch, great choice of drinks including their own brewed beer, fab service. Thank you

·

The beer is good and its a cosy atmosphere. They do a quiz on a Sunday evening that is very well done and well attended. Ive not had food there so i cant comment on that.

The food is amazing, cooked to perfection. No pretentious char grilling, no bits of black (burnt) meat or veg. They even have their own micro brewery and the beer is lovely. Out of the kitchen, the bar staff are the stars of customer service. You would find it difficult to get anyone more friendly, welcoming and helpful. It's a lovely old pub but takes a bit of finding.

We arrived here on Friday evening and I assume it was the owner behind the bar since he was wearing a chefs outfit. We asked to see the menu and told that meals didn't start for half an hour. We asked for it again because, being a vegetarian, I didn't know if there was anything on the menu for me. Begrudgingly he handed over 2 menus. The vegetarian choice was limited as expected but I eventually ordered a mushroom dish in puff pastry. I managed to find out whether it came with anything after really pushing the waitress. It came in some kind of sauce and had been burned on the underside which I had to scrape off. When asked half way through the meal if everything was satisfactory I said no, it was burnt. She said she would tell 'him', but there was no apology. The desert, sticky toffee pudding was poor and again I had to push for what was actually on the menu. If you want a good meal at a reasonable price with good service go to the Lord Nelson at Winthorpe, not here!
