Tom Browns Brasserie in Newark and Sherwood

Nice gastro pub by the river, really good service. The famous crispy egg was a great starter, 2 people on the table had the burger and were not big fans, unusual taste and very thick compressed, im sure other people like them but not for us. Food coming to the tables around us all looked really good!

I’ve always loved TB for service and food but I’m afraid tonight was a disappointment. A surprise birthday meal, perfect, but, the service was slow, and the drinks orders were even slower. We could have spent so much more if the smiles and service matched the place, but unfortunately, they didn’t and in turn, we went somewhere else for a night cap! Service with a smile goes a long way, and when stating it was a birthday, this should have been a priority, when it wasn’t. I’m glad I booked, but may rethink on future occasions.

What a wonderful surprise! Stopped on a whim for lunch. 5 star meal and service ☺️ .. loved the funky decor 😜Plenty of parking available and if it wasn't foggy I would suggest a gentle stroll down the river ..

Had an absolutely wonderful Christmas afternoon tea here. Unlimited tea or coffee and as many sandwiches as we wanted. Also gave us boxes to take away what we couldn't eat. Totally recommend.

We dined today at Tom Brown's as a group of 6Our first impression wasn't great, as our drinks order was wrong and we only recieved 4 out of 6 starters. The starters we did recieve were generally good. The soup and mussels were good and the vegan starter (Korean Fried Cauliflower) was excellent and admired by all in the group.The mains were a mixed bag. On the one end the two risottos were quite good. The vegan main however was very cheap, the noodles being likened to "Supernoodles". Likewise the pork loin dish was of a supermarket readymeal grade. The battered fish was inedible, three of us tried it and it was so dripping in oil there was no flavour of fish whatsoever. My son left hungry due to this.Our dessert order was wrong too, as the brownie was ordered with clotted cream and arrived with ice cream. The other desserts had very little flair in any of them. For example the rice pudding "with mango and lime" should have featured some real fruit, rather than the miserable blobs of preserve it arrived with.One nice gesture was my partners birthday marked with a surprise mini-dessert. This was kind.Overall though, the impression was of a restaurant with pretentious staff, pretentious pricing yet cruicially, not the high-end food to back it up. It felt like a thin veneer of high-class dining with very little substance behind it. In a nutshell the service and food has to be much better OR the price has to be much lower.Yes, our server did ask if our meals were okay. She was a quiet girl of about 16 or 17 so did not deserve to be moaned at for the strategic errors of the management. We also did not complain for fear of coming across as merely wanting money off the bill. We paid the bill, £215 ish and sadly will not be coming back. We are not fussy diners at all, our reviews are usually positive with most places we visit. On that note, my advice to anybody reading this would be to try Copper in Bingham or the Bromley in Fiskerton.2/5 overall

Haven't been to Tom Brown's for ages. On return it was brilliant! Our guests loved it too & they'd never been before. Very friendly staff, great choice of food which had Asian influences & a relaxed atmosphere. Will be going back for sure.

A popular place for Sunday lunch which we'd pre-booked. So parking (free) was fairly full. Delicious food - I and my friend had the mushroom risotto and fish and chips respectively. A walk down river (muddy path in places) rounded off a lovely afternoon

Came here for the black Tuesday, some meals were 50%.I had the fishcakes to startSausage and mash for the main, it came with cabbage and onion rings, the mash was so creamy and soft.Pudding was plum frangipani, with cinnamon ice cream, plums and ginger cream.Would recommend going, but go on black Tuesday, so that you get money off your menu.

Visited for Sunday lunch.Service was very efficient, staff were lovely. Very attentive.The food..? EXCELLENT!!!We had Korean Fried Cauliflower (KFC!) and Roasted Cauliflower Soup served with cheese croquettes and truffle Oli.Both were awesome!Fit mains, we plumped for the Sunday Roast. One chicken and one beef.Really happy with the quality 🙂

Went for lunch on a Saturday and had an early table, had booked for 4 people but only 2 could attend which was dealt with really well and a different table was offered to us which was great. Food was brilliant and very good standard indeed (comparable with World Service, Six, etc.) with some really interesting dishes. Service was very friendly and relaxed with everyone made to feel welcome but as it got busier became a bit less attentive. Tables with families were well looked after and children were welcomed which was good to see for this level of restaurant.
