The Highwayman in North East Derbyshire

Really nice experience here recently!!We’d been shopping in chesterfield and wanted somewhere for lunch, and ended up at the Highwayman.The hostess was welcoming and very friendly, kind and patient to the kids when it came to ordering (young reader and nervous teen) and also did us a portion of food not explicitly on the menu.The service was efficient and the venue very clean!The food itself was really delicious, the chips could have been a little more cooked as personally I prefer chips that are soft and fluffy in the centre, but they were still very tasty.Definitely will be back again! Oh and very good value for money too *****

Great ambience, great service and excellent Sunday lunch. Not the cheapest around but definitely worth it and value for what you get. Will be returning in the not too distant future.

We discovered the joys of Beefeater by accident. And so far have had several really good meals. Even better with the offers received by being a reward member

Very average food, like honestly. We where starving after day out and unfortunately there was no any other restaurants serving food at Sunday evening.Well… as I said, it’s not discussing but not great either.Also,New yoghurt ice cream didn’t got merengues which where stated in the ingredients. Veggie sticks didn’t got carrots which also where stated. Instead of skinny fries we got fat oven chips. Where charged slightly extra - check your bill if you order kids 3 course meal. A bit to much for first and of course last visit, isn’t?Short of stuff, only 2 waiters, They both did their really best. Much better then chefs…

Food was average, lots of items not available. Staff very helpful having to work around limited menu. May be better when they can sort out there supply chain.

The waitress though young was amazing. She was attentive and polite throughout.The let down was the Bland, tasteless, poorly cooked frozen food that would not even make the shelves of a budget freezer shop.I cannot reiterate enough just how poor the food was. I did pass it on to the manager but did not want to put the young staff member on the spit and the manager was no where to be found.Most dishes on the menu were unavailable, the ones that were shouldn't have been. £80 odd for tatt.This was an occasion meal and sadly the main memory will be tainted by the food we received.

This place was a last minute decision for Sunday Lunch... And turned out to be a good one.. We opted for a late Sunday lunch and we had a lamb dinner and a vegan fake pie, both of which we really liked. The lamb was really good and my better half loved her fake pie. The service from 2 guys was second to none, quick, friendly and they were well versed in what you got with each meal. If I had to moan it would be about the £34 bill for 2 lunches and 2 drinks, but other than that we really enjoyed the staff's attitude and the surroundings.

We have been here pre the pandemic, and decided to attend again,We had the mixed grill, which was fantastic, the steak was delicious!Partner had the smothered chicken was lovely too! Price was good, and location was ideal tooStaff was great too! Highly recommended

Had a lovely meal here. Staff were fantastic and the price was very reasonable. If your on Derbyshire between Baslow and Chesterfield, pay them a visit.

Nice food with attentive service. Menu is not as wide as before covid (no beef crisps starter the kids love those) and a couple of items were not available due to deliver issues affecting a lot of restaurants at the moment but didn't affect our food. Served by Laura.
