The Old Poets' Corner in North East Derbyshire

We stopped here for a drink one evening, with friends. It's a really popular venue for locals, so it might be worth pre-booking if you were going to eat. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Dogs are allowed inside. The venue is spacious, with plenty of tables dotted around. A good place to stop.

After quite a few years of been hit and miss with food at The Poets Corner, today was exceptional. Sunday lunch could not be faulted, plenty of perfectly cooked beef with all the trimmings, the vegtables, especially the cauliflour cheese tasted of what it should have, unlike some places where all the food tastes the same, and to top it off was the best gravy that was thick which coated your meal with plenty of flavour.Also a shout out to the waiting staff who obviously take pride in their work, made sure tables were cleared and cleaned quickly and conducted themselves with a smile and pleasantries.5* service and food.Thank you x

Well where to start ....situated in the beautiful little village af Ashover.Amazing look from the outside and very rustic homely warm feeling on entering ....sat by a beautiful open fire and was greeted by Alison in the pictures ,amazing host and very helpful .Food was amazing and very reasonably priced , I had the beef sandwich with thick cut chips .Which must of been made in a authentic chip pan with lard or with beef dripping as we're absolutely gorgeous and reminded me of my grand mother's cooking .Will definitely return to such a wonderful place and thankyou Alison for letting me get my picture behind the bar.

Went here for the first time as it was recommended to us for a meal and it was lovely, great little pub with character and atmosphere , food was delicious and the staff where very polite and helpful . I would definitely recommend a visit here and we will be visiting again 👍☺️

One of my favourite pubs,great selection of Titanic brewery beers, including plum porter,my favourite. The food was exceptional and the staff are helpful

Great pub. Open fire, nice setting.. Food is best for miles around and price is fab!! Good choice of real ales and nice wine. Will be returning soon. Highly recommended

Great Pub with good atmosphere. Staff really nice and we had food, which was lovely and reasonably priced. Was very busy so bit of a wait, but was handled well and had given us a discount without is asking for having to wait a little longer. Not that I minded as its Titanic brewery and there beers are great, especially the plum porter which here was heavenly.Recommended

Passive aggressive elderly staff lady behind the bar. Seemed to be just towards me though. (Perhaps not used to seeing people of colour , who knows .) Beer was good though even though we only ended up staying for one and didn't want to order a meal there based on the lady's attitude. The locals seemed freindly enough, so don't let her service put you off investing in renting holiday cabins in the area. Lovely peaceful place to visit.EDIT:update. The brewery carried out an "investigation " and came back with an insulting lame excuse of the staff member being stressed due to suddenly being busy with unexpected wedding guests....1. There were no weddings guests when we were there and would a wedding not be planned! 2. If it was stress, then why direct it to the only non white people there. Don't ruin your holiday by going with just your to this pub if you are a minority. If you do go, then perhaps go in numbers.
