The Peacock at Barlow in North East Derbyshire

What an absolutely stunning place. Such a variety of seating, a lot of outdoor space all with a lovely view. We didn't get time to sample the food but I'm sure it would taste as good as it looked . Highly recommend if you are in the area .

Really enjoyed our food. We had shared nachos to start and they are so good. As there were quite a few of us the main courses didn't get served altogether some had nearly finished before others had got their food which wasn't great but everyone enjoyed it. I think the only thing that didn't go down so well was the lamb tagine as the lamb could have done with cooking for much longer! Would definitely recommend this place though!

Lovely setting, beautiful views. Was told you couldn't reserve a table when we tried to book one over the phone so went with the hope a table was free. Arrived and asked for a table for five people, the girl behind the till replied "sure just choose a table without a reservation sign on"! Also when placing your food order at the till we were asked would you like this to include a tip. Call me old fashioned but aren't tips given at the end of the meal depending on service??? Anyway despite those two moans it was a great meal!

Had a great Sunday roast there yesterday, both beef and lamb were great! Sticky toffee pudding is definitely to die for with good ice cream choices. Super dog friendly, dogs are allowed anywhere in the restaurant and decking area and there’s a doggy water station and biscuits available. Beautiful view as well from the terrace.

We had a very warm welcome for our stay at The Peacock at Barlow! Our room was really comfortable, clean and we loved the extra touches including cosy robes, fresh milk in the fridge and a homemade scone with cream and jam which was delicious.We dined in the evening and were very well looked after, service was excellent and food was delicious! The bar staff were helpful and knowledgeable and created some awesome cocktails for us. We can't wait to come back again!

Visit here regularly and it's always amazing. Servers are always friendly, food is fantastic and the atmosphere is always good. I'd love to give 5 stars but on multiple occasions the meal I have ordered for my daughter hasn't arrived and when asked where it is. Just a generic response won't be long. But this has boiled down to a good 5 to 10mins wait and by that time little one isn't hungry as she's eaten off my plate while she has been made to wait. Please tell the chefs not to sell the food on the pass if the child's meal isn't ready would rather the plate stay under the heat lamps a few mins longer than have a hungry frustrated child.

Love visiting here with family and the dogs, plenty of space to be without feeling cramped into a space, the dogs can lay out and relax. The dogs are very welcome and are treated with water and biscuits. The human food has always been lovely and there is plenty of choice. Staff are happy to help and they make you feel at home. Great place to visit for food or drink. Lovely outdoor area too.

A beautiful venue in a stunning location and the staff were absolutely incredible! A lovely spot for a drink. Unfortunately the food was a big let down for us. The menu on the day was not the same as the one online which was a shame as we wouldn't have bothered coming had we known. The menu is very outdated, it's so sad in this day and age to see such poor choice for vegetarians/vegans. Even with that aside, our food was not hot when it arrived, was very bland and extremely overpriced for such small portions. Such a shame as other than that, this venue has so much going for it. Would definitely return for a drink but wouldn't visit the restaurant again.

Beautiful. Outdoor seating to die for with fantastic views and comfortable well managed seating areas. The staff are very accommodating, very friendly and nothing too much trouble. Food is much more than general pub food, and dogs are welcome too. A pleasant enjoyable experience

A lovely place situated in a quiet village and with its own artisan brewery next door. Stunning views over the edge of Low Peak District and Chesterfield . Food is fresh and plentiful, staff helpful and friendly. It's a true "local" pub who welcome new and old friends alike.
