Tracey was an excellent hostess, very freindly and accommodating. I had the ale pie and chips which was very good, home cooked and flavoursome. My wife had the homemade lasagne which was also excellent. Well worth a visit.

I have come here to meet a fellow I've never actually met in person before (though I've known him 10 years or so) and having done so have also had a chat with the landlord.Really nice landlord; really nice pub too. Great atmosphere and I must come back again. (I live Staveley way).Yep this is a fantastic pub IMHO. Couldn't rate it higher.

Having checked on Google that this pub was open on a Friday lunch time, spent 30 minutes walking there, only to find that it was closed.I mean, how many minutes can it take to go onto Google in order to revise one's opening hours? As with all pubs who are too inconsiderate and selfish to care whether someone has wasted time and effort to get there, I will make a point of never using that place again.On a positive note, it necessitated a walk on to the next pub, The Peacock, which served good beer and good food, and, having just moved into the area, will become my daily local choice for lunch and a pint.
