Warm welcome and delicious food. Roast beef was tender and tasty, served with fresh vegetables.

I've always loved this place! They continue to grow and adapt with any circumstance they're facing! Yet, it's always great food and service! Just wonderful! Xx

Great whisky selection. The interior could keep you amazed for hours with the different bottles of whiskey. The food is lovely and great portion size. Definitely worth a visit.

Under new management, we had the early bird menu (5.30 - 6.30) for just £8. Simple pub food done very well, compliments to the chef. Traditional village pub which is being gradually updated, give it a try.

A friend and I visited here late September in the evening for dinner. I ordered fish and chips and my friend ordered steak. Firstly, I don’t think the steak had ever moo’d in its life it was that well-done. Secondly, my fish had a crazy amount of bones in it. I would normally expect there to be a few bones in fish, but I counted about 20 bones with almost every mouthful having a horrid “crunch” to it. After saying something to the gentleman on the bar, his response was “well I don’t control how fish grows do I”. The food is absolutely awful, along with the customer service. For the price, there are many other pubs which I would highly rate in the area. I would urge anyone to avoid this.

Fantastic service, food was excellent. Truly wonderful time, my wife is vegan and the new owner and the head chef went out of there way to provide her with an absolute pleasure of a meal and hand picked the fruit for the desert themselves. Thank you guys 👍

Not great service or food. My wife & I ordered one of their Famous Steaks this Saturday, my wife ordered medium rare Fillet and I ordered RARE Dallas Rib Eye, both came MEDIUM to WELL DONE. We told the waitress when the steaks arrived and she said she would tell the kitchen. I don't leave much, but I left three quarters of my steak and it went back to the kitchen. No response from the kitchen or the management, the bill came for the full amount, so we paid and left, we will not be returning and will tell everyone about our experience - Good service costs nothing. We also asked for vinegar for the chips, but it never came, good job they only had four tables to serve, I wouldn't like to eat there when the place was full.

Great food from an extensive menu, great selection of wines beer and largers. With a collection of over 650 whiskies on sale from £3 - £500 per 25ml shot. A very friendly local where all are welcome.

Came here for a meal. The lady on the bar was very friendly and welcoming. Although a good selection of specials the main menu was quite standard but had high prices. I'd hoped this would mean that the standard of the food and the experience as a whole would be high quality, unfortunately this wasn't the case. Nothing stood out as 'poor' but the whole place just lacked atmosphere and at times a bit of professionalism. We ordered our meals stood next to the specials board on the way to the dining area, and sat in what felt like quite a lonely and dingy seating area, with dark corners and only the sound of the waitress and chef chatting in the kitchen as background noise. The broken light bulb in the bathroom and the low temperature in the building just added to the odd ambiance. Food itself was nice but no more than average. Had the lamb steak and although the sauce was tasty and the meat well-cooked it was ruined a bit by the amount of sinue, the side of basic steamed veg was also boring and flavourless. Although service was very friendly it just felt a little un-professional, for example, the girl serving our mains was wearing a hoodie and a pair of Nike air max's! Sure this is fine in her own time but I wouldn't expect it in high quality and fairly pricey gastro-pub. I'm sorry to say the Hare and Hound nearby has not too dissimilar prices but it could be due to the points raised above that they are full most nights and the george is not.
