Very friendly and welcoming by Jordon. Food was excellent plenty struggled to eat it all and we have reasonable appetites and it was served hot. Jordan looked after us in the bar and he brought us our food and drink. When ordered further drinks Jordon remembered what we ordered previously. Room (1) was comfortable with a sitting area. shower room was a little on the small side but quite adequate for our needs, with plenty of towels and toiletries. Would definitely stay here again when next in the area.

LAWNS HOTEL WANTS £182 TO PARK FOR 2 HOURS AS THEIR CUSTOMER!!!I was visiting Derby to meet up with some family members - and we had popped in to Lawns Hotel on 23rd August 2020 for a few drinks only. We were unaware of their parking restrictions in the car park and had assumed that they must have been for overnight guests as most pubs allow guests to park for a few hours without having to register or pay.A month later - I received a parking charge notice from their parking management company. I am aware that the Hotel has the right to over-ride these as owners of the car park and wrote to them on the 21st of Sep 2020 asking them to cancel the ticket in this instance.I did not receive any further communications from either the Hotel or their parking enforcement company until the 17th of NOV 2021 (thats 15 months afterwards) demanding £182 for the parking penalty. That is a disgusting way to treat their own customers - I have written again to the Hotel as well as the car parking company's governing body and will await their response.I understand that establishments want to control their parking and restrict non-customers using their space, BUT this is NOT the way to treat their own customers!!!!

Hope you like grey!! Grey walls, grey carpet, grey atmosphere. Still, they do serve a couple of nice beers and in a village now void of decent pubs this is probably the best of what's left... pack your rose-tinted glasses though, you might just need them.

Good price, excellent staff & service. Continental breakfast excellent and plenty of it. The room needs a refurb, panels coming off bath panel, hot water only luke warm for a shower. Hairdryer very old, very sticky & dirty so couldn't use.

Great venue, and fantastic staff! We had our wedding reception here August 2021, using the restaurant area and The Boiler Room at the back for the full afternoon and evening. The staff at the hotel were absolutely brilliant both in build up to the wedding and on the day itself. They put a lot of effort in in advance to work with us to find a setup that would meet our needs, overcoming various challenges that we gave them along the way including last minute changes such as an increased number of people to accommodate in the restaurant (so changing the entire table layout again). On the day, the staff went above and beyond for getting everything in place (including overnight before the wedding), helping ensure everything ran smoothly, serving the guests, and even packing up (again overnight after the wedding reception). One of their members of staff (Sam) had even lost his voice by the next day for having worked such long and intense hours to help ensure it was all a great success. I would like to say a very big thank you to all the staff involved for helping our wedding day be so special, and with a special thank you to Sarah for all the advance preparation and to Sam and Sophie for all their support over the wedding weekend.

The Hotel staff are lovely and the food is amazing! My hubby eats like a horse and was defeated by the fish and chips on the menu..or Whale and chips as he named it. The only poor points are that the walls in the rooms are very thin so you can hear everything that is going on next door as if they are in your room. Everything in the room was adequate and clean and there isn't anything you would need to enjoy your stay. Even if you forgot your vanity bag.It would have got 5 stars if the walls were thicker. don't expect to get to sleep before 1 am but there is a bonus that breakfast is served until 11am.

Booked a deluxe room but got the standard one. Did not realise until looking at photos later. Asked for quiet room but drinkers outside until well after midnight kept us awake. The breakfast was continental only but we opted to pay for cooked breakfast. Wish we hadn't bothered as it was lukewarm, burned toast, rubbery eggs awful. Complaints were met with "sorry about that". In the room everything was very basic, paper cups to drink from, nothing nice at all. Avoid if you want somewhere decent.
