Lumbertubs in Northampton

My first time out for dinner since my wife passed away in March. So, expectations were obviously high!!! I used to come here with my late father for regular Sunday lunches before he passed away a few years ago.Atmosphere was good, very busy place earlier in the evening, lots of families with young children, bit noisy- so what it’s a family friendly place.OH DEAR, Now the problems, Sally was still here, brilliant!!!! Now duty manager, well done.The attentiveness of the waitresses was not so good, waited and waited to order a drink and then the same thing to order food. A big selection. I opted for a skewer Mango chicken, peppers onions etc and a hot sauce. My companion ordered a burger.His was okay alittle rubbery but edible. NOT the kebab I’m afraid, peppers and onions were not cooked - blackened , just heated, Chicken thighs were pre-cooked and re-heated up, pineapple???? NO signs of ANY MANGOES!!!! All in all a really disappointing time.Saving grace, I wasn’t the first person to complain about this dish and it was removed from the bill.Come again???Possibly

The meal we had today was all OK however found the staff miserable.We are elderly and when the lady brought my meal I asked if I could have vinegar.Her response was its all over there, no smile just felt a nuisance.

I hadn't been in here for 20 years and met up with family for a meal. It was cheap, exceptionally quiet for a Saturday night by 9.30 our group was the only one left. Cleanliness left a lot to be desired the toilets stank, the cleaning rota on the wall was dated 5 days previously and we had ants on the table, not many but more than was acceptable for an indoor restaurant. Would I go back probably not.

Had a family lunch with 7 of us, a friendly welcome, very well looked after by attentive waiting staff, very good food and all at a reasonable price. Excellent and we will be back, thank you.

Spotlessly clean.Friendly staff with good atmosphere.Very varied,extensive menu.Lovely variety of snacks and main meals of which are good quality.Would highly recommend a visit.

Starting with long waiting and cold food.Ordered well done received barely medium rare and dry.food itself looked like few days oldUnpleasant experienceAs for staffService was great.Totally different experience then last time visited.

First time in this pub since 1968. Excellent welcome. Friendly chat with staff. We were late for Sunday lunch but settled for a steak and pepper sauce. Apple pie and custard for afters. Well cooked very tasty. Having just moved back to the area after many years. Happy to make it our local.

An impromptu visit and we were all really impressed. Service was friendly, food was delicious, generous portions too and really great value. We'll definitely be back!

Very good, good atmosphere, kids love it, great value, challenges are mad! The wing challenge is no joke! 🤭 beers alright, foods good for the money
