Great dog friendly pub but they've just stopped serving doggy ice cream! The kids chicken burger was very chewy and made up of e to 4 paper-thin slices of chicken deep fried, no sauce, just bun.Desserts were amazing, I had the mocha torte and sticky toffee pudding.Owner was lovely and came for a chat. Chef and Brewer need to look at bringing back the doggy ice cream and making the kids menu better

Food smelt good from outside. However we had only just arrived in the area and were looking to eat at about 4.30. The car park was virtually empty and there were many empty tables inside and out. We waited at the designated seating podium for a while but when a young lady eventually approached us and asked if we had booked we were told in no uncertain terms, i.e. quite rudely, 'We don't do walk- ins'. We could have booked for later that evening or another night if given the option. There was no sign inside or out saying that it was bookings only for meals. As it is good to know that they did not need our custom we will not bother to return during our short stay in the area, but will re-visit the place that made us welcome. Staff do need to learn to be polite and courteous to potential customers. If there had been a sign to say only bookings were being served or it was mentioned that there was a staffing issue we would not have been so annoyed as the reception we received. A simple 'sorry we cannot serve you as we have staff shortage and are just honoring bookings' would have been quite acceptable and would not have led to the review and possibly a booking for another night. As we were strangers to the area it also might have been helpful to direct us to elsewhere.

Lots of parking, which is refreshing. We enjoyed a lovely meal. Pork belly was succulent & very tasty! Will definitely be back! Thanks for a lovely evening!

I had a feeling when I pulled into the massive car park with loads of space, that this was going to be a great experience.I wasn't disappointed, the second you walk in, you feel that you are in a warm welcoming, friendly place. You're notified straight away that's its a dog friendly bar, love that. People often don't like to ask, no need here. The nice decor, open fire, and simple layout makes you feel welcomed, and the very friendly staff, especially Sam, makes you feel like you're having dinner with family. And as if that wasn't enough, the food was simply superb.I had the fillet steak which was cooked to perfection, and the portion sizes were perfect!

The food was lovely, especially the fudge brownie. Staff were friendly enough but 1 buggered up 2 food orders while I was there and she also came over to offer a sweet menu, went away and didn't come back so another server took over thankfully. Would've given 4 stars if the ladies toilets didn't smell of mould and sewage. Overall good but won't be back.

A fantastic treasure just outside northampton, looks lovely as a venue and a great dining experience.Staff are really friendly and professional, it's a wide menu and what we had tasted great. They have a good drinks section and should have something for everyone. Can recommend and can't wait to return.

Decent night out at this Chef and Brewer pub. Ten of us enjoyed a great evening of food and drink. I had fish and chips which went down well although I could count the chips easily on the plate. The menu was extensive and the service very good. Worth a look for a good night out.

First time visit for us & we will definitely be returning. You can tell by the moment you walk in that this eatery is good by the amount of people there, although that being said there is more than enough space with the tables well laid out. We were shown to our table by the waiting staff and offered the menus, we chose our drinks & meals which were soon with us. We both had the turkey Sunday lunch which was perfectly cooked & piping hot. We then both had a dessert which again was excellent. Both our drinks, meals & desserts came to less than £45 which I consider to be of very good value. We will certainly be returning again & we would very highly recommend the Britannia for a top quality good value meal that is served by excellent staff in lovely surroundings.
