Wow! We had the pleasure of attending my friends Baby Shower in a beautiful room at The Dining Room yesterday, the table and room was set out so beautifully, we added a few decorations too, the afternoon tea food was out of this world, and my Vegan food was so delicious! The room did get a little bit stuffy, as the windows can’t be opened due to past security issues, so having the door keep opening was refreshing. All of the staff were so accommodating and friendly and helpful, all of my friends had a great time.Thank you. 🙏🏼

Quite good food but drastically cut down menu from what was on the website - probably because they are undergoing extensive renovations at the moment. Will be great when back to normal.

My first time visiting here for afternoon tea and I was so impressed with the service and food here! There was a lovely selection of drinks and sweet and savoury goodies, and all tasted delicious. Thanks to the amazing staff for also adding a surprise for my birthday and bringing out a cake and candle, was such a lovely gesture. Definitely recommend this place and I can’t wait to visit again! x

Excellent afternoon tea! A vast selection for the savoury course (much more than I've seen anywhere else) and the scones and cakes were great too. Also provided a proper gluten free alternative for one of our party, who was provided as much as we were but just gluten free versions. Great value for money, would certainly recommend!

After being let down at the very last minute by another Northampton establishment we rang the Dining Room to see if they could accommodate us for a 40th Birthday afternoon tea. We arrived less than ten minutes later and were absolutely delighted to find our table decorated for the occasion with a banner and table confetti. The food was absolutely outstanding, A good selection of pillow soft sandwiches, the most amazing warm savoury scones with cheese and chutney, quiches and other savouries were just for starters. Next followed the most incredible array of cakes, macarons and warm fluffy scones with clotted cream. Gorgeous crockery, and a plentiful supply of tea, things could not have been any better or so we thought.......the staff then bought in a 40th birthday decorated brownie complete with candle and sang to the birthday girl. Service was attentive without being overbearing, what a brilliant afternoon. Thank you guys you made our day.

Utterly shocked. Turned up 30 mins before closing time for a simple coffee and was coldly turned away by a miserable blonde with “sorry, we’re closing in 10”. It was pouring with rain, I had my baby outside, and they turned us away. I’m genuinely disgusted. Is this what happens in Britain, 2022? Am I the insane one? I’ve thought long and hard enough about this experience to send one insane, true. But request from a local who wanted a sit-down simple hot drink with their little one seems pretty commonplace, or at the very least reasonable given the day (a cold, wet, Eunice Sunday). Appalled. Don’t go here, especially not if the blonde is on the desk.

Very nice When we went the dining room had been moved to another part of the building due to refurbishment. The room was quite small and very noisey Food was lovely

The Dining Room is the wonderful restaurant inside 78 Derngate.Serving excellent food and wonderful afternoon tea, book before you turn up so as not to be disappointed.A tour around number 78 is also recommended, the house designed by Charles Renne Mackintosh for Basset Lowke.
