Booked to have lunch on my 70th Birthday. The waitress seemed surprised when we arrived for some reason. We were seated and given the A la Carte menu and made our choice. The waitress then came back and said that they couldn't supply anything on the menu and that we had the choice of Burger and chips or Hot Dog and chips.Completely spoilt my birthday and upset my friend who had arranged it. And you have to pay for the Hotel Car Park.

Fabulous location, beautiful room. Food OK but poor value. Gave in and paid £5 to escape the car park, despite it being part of our package, as there was no answer on the intercom and we didn't have time to go back to reception.

We had chosen this venue to get married in, and Naomi had been a star from the very beginning. Even if I had 500 queries, I knew I’d be able to count on her to answer and help me out with every single one. The venue itself is absolutely breathtaking, from the ballroom to the grounds, it’s all immaculately kept. Thank you everybody at Colwick Hall for helping our special day be just that much more special!

Booked for afternoon tea for my friend’s birthday and was very disappointed.. although the setting is lovely I felt the experience could have been so much better .. there was not much in the way of welcome or being ‘looked after ‘ we had to ask for hot water for the tea and tea/ coffee was not replenished .. the sandwiches were ok but the scones were hard , crispy and cold and one very small pot of jam was to be shared by 3 people ! Just those little touches like a table cloth and lovely china were missing .. We were expecting a “wonderful” experience for the relatively high price and came away feeling very disappointed especially when we found out we had to pay to get out of the car park not good when you’ve just spent money eating there !Colwick Hall is a beautiful place and I just think it could do better

Afternoon tea was was very sub standard. Lukewarm soup, cheap looking plain pizza and scones cracked into pieces because they were dry. Out of the 3 extremely small cakes only one was tasty. Had to pay for parking 😠

·

Excellent Afternoon Cream Tea. Lovely selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes. Bonus in small slice savory tart and shot tumbler of warming parsnip and Apple soup. Staff were very helpful and attentive.

·

Decent afternoon tea, but no one to greet you in reception and service was a little slow. Unfortunately the scones were tiny and so dry they disintegrated when you tried to put the jam on. Must do better.

Just about 3 kms outside the Notttingham city center, this park on the banks of the Trent river brings you close to the nature. There's a race course which is open for common public on no race days. There are many trails here which you can enjoy and spend you good rest of the day.Sit on the Trent bank and watch people do their water sports activity. You'll have a very nice memorable day for sure.

I hired the Grand Ballroom and Champagne Lounge for 77 guests for the day on the first weekend in December 2021. The organization and sale of the event was great but the service on the day was absolutely appalling.A lot of my guests commented that it seemed they were selling too many events on that day with too little staff to try and make up for Covid and it was just embarrassing. My event briefing happened at the very last minute on the day and they were running so many events with so little staff that I essentially had to act as the duty manager myself and finish the briefing to the bar staff - it was total chaos as the manager had to go and cut the cake for a different event (which was charming as they didn't have enough staff to cut the cake for my event in the end) and deal with some issues with the car park barrier.I spent most of my event trying to find staff - at one point there was no one in the champagne lounge, nor the ballroom, nor the bar, nor the reception, nor the office (I knocked twice). When I did eventually find someone they told me they were understaffed and hadn't been briefed saying things like 'there's no communication in this place'.The men's toilets were also unhygienic without toilet brushes and with broken door locks.Basically if they promise you a duty manager; you don't get one. If they take your food order for a buffet, don't expect them to cater 1 item per person like they say they do or even to put out the dishes you've specifically asked for - there was all sorts of stuff put out for mine that I didn't order and by the time I got up for my first plate of food half the buffet was already eaten. They also failed on the dietary requirement front. I was then essentially told this was my fault for not spending more money on a 2 course meal instead of a buffet, despite me paying for their most expensive buffet option and being assured multiple times there will be more than enough for everyone. I should also mention I had 10 less guests on the day than planned for and 6 of the guests were children and there still wasn't enough food for me to get a full plate! It was very stressful I literally ended up crying on my special day, I was mortified for guests who had travelled so far.I would not recommend anyone to invest money having an event here, especially not if it's a special occasion like a big birthday or a wedding. When I made my complaint during and after the event they used the discounts they had offered me to justify the poor service so if they offer you a room hire discount or prosecco bundles I wouldn't recommend accepting these; you're better off paying more for them to treat you like your event actually matters, or finding a venue that doesn't lower it's service levels with discounts.

Not the 4* experience we were hoping for. We booked there to go to the races nearby for my husbands birthday. The hotel is in it's own grounds with nothing much nearby except the racecourse. We should have asked if they had a lift, which they don't, as my husband is disabled and when we arrived our room was up four flights of stairs in the attics. The rooms are described as "boutique". I don't think so.The bath/shower was impossible to get into for him and I suspect most people would have had difficulty. The toilet worked for part of the time and the maintenance people looked at it and said they had to order a part. For part of the night we had to go down 3 flights of stairs to get to the nearest toilet until it righted itself for a while. They said they would refund us but they didn't. There wasn't another room to be had as they were fully booked, although the hotel seemed dead and without atmosphere. The bar and restaurant were cold although the bar and restaurant staff were very nice. We were the only people in there most times. The hot breakfast was not the best although dinner was good if expensive. All in all the best thing I can say about staying at the Colwick Hall was that the bed was comfortable. I wouldn't recommend the Colwick Hall.
