I've been wanting to come here for years, and while it was nice was somewhat quite disappointed. The scotch egg starter wasn't anywhere near what I expected (deep fried slice of battered pork topped with a fried egg) the waffle's and chicken a tad dry (waffle's seemed like the £1 shop brought premade ones) had about a teaspoon of coleslaw on the plate. The cocktails tho very nice are very expensive (£7-£10 each) I had the British trifle cocktail although was absolutely gorgeous was quite small for £9.50. was Very busy and was quite long waits for things but to be expected for valentine's Day.The staff absolutely lovely, couldn't be more polite or accomodating enough. HUSBAND had the stacked fish burger was absolutely massive and very good value for money he said was very nice (you're looking at About £5 for a pint of draught lager)Overall glad a came but not sure I would return.

After googling 'best scampi in Nottingham' this place came out tops so I thought I'd give it a try for a business meal, it was well worth the visit as the prawn cocktail with advocado was absolutely delicious, the scampi basket was loaded and gourmet, my colleague had fish and chips, the fish was that huge she took a photo of it to share with friends, not to mention the very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended five star service and quality food, thank you

The good things:Clean, nice atmosphere, waiter checked on us how we like the food, fast service. Student discount. The fish and chips is a must try as it's one of the best in the city. The things could have been better:Please ask next time if we want the drink with ice. My cup was filled up with from bottom to top and it was a bit uncomfortable. The other thing was that while we still drank our after-food-tea the waiter suddenly appeared with the bills. Which again, could have been asked first. (Wasn't busy that time to have to rush us out)

Tasty food and great atmosphere. Great quality for the price as well. The staff was very polite and welcoming. 10/10 recommend!Edit: Wanted to add a couple more photos from my latest visit.

Amazing food. Just order Fish and chip should be fine. Definitely will come again.

·

Nice fish and chips. Only reason for 4 stars is they weren’t chippy chips… Nice friendly staff.

Absolutely fantastic food, great venue, and staff are very helpful and accommodating! Menu is one of the most accessible I've seen and the quality is fantastic. Great value for money. The service wasn't too quick and was a nice relaxed pace giving us time to decide what we wanted, and the server very quickly spotted an error in our order and promptly corrected it. Well worth a visit and I will be back!!

Good food..huge portions. If you order the Great British Fish Feast you need to be very hungry. Was a bit surprised by the deconstructed scotch egg starterWe had an issue with our drinks order that the Nottingham staff sorted out quickly. Very professionalI'd definitely go back..but would need to be on an empty stomach 😅

Before I get into the nitty gritty, I visited here just after the pandemic and this restaurant was in need of customers. So as I post this I am only writing from my experience at the time and not what you may experience in the near future. All in all not so good. My expectations were obviously too high and should have come here maybe 2 years before. As you can see from my recent photos the setting is still very cool and keeping in good stead the Great British style of pub / seaside theme. The food looked nice but not good either. You can see some cost cutting is taking place at the moment from the photo of the candy floss (no flavouring). Albeit the children’s meals were huge and the chips were done very well. I think any meal without the chip shop chips may be disappointing so stick to what they know!Even though we were not happy with our visit I do really hope they can salvage this restaurant. Times are changing and competition is getting tough for them.

This was my first visit to George’s for my birthday. The food was delicious, three of my family are vegetarian and there was a very good selection of meals to choose from. The drinks were very nice and the service excellent. The lovely waitress brought me a surprise dessert for my birthday which was thoughtful. It tasted as good as it looked! Thanks George’s for making my birthday celebration so enjoyable.
