Excellent beers. But the pub is not very friendly and welcoming. I think the staff could chat to customers more if nothing else.

Nice little boozer, friendly bar staff, reasonably priced drinks, very mixed clientele.

Superb range of real ales, craft beer and proper cider in this friendly traditional pub. The Poacher is a bit of an institution, and well worth the walk up Mansfield Road.

The best pub in (near) the city centre by a considerable margin. Excellent real ale, good food, attentive staff, what more could you want?

First time in the place for a long time. Met up for a few drinks before a reunion meal elsewhere. Live music was being set up which sounded good. Atmosphere was lively and the beer excellent. Always been a popular pub.

The best of the Castle Rock pubs in Nottingham if you ask me. Excellent range of beers and spirits, friendly and knowledgeable staff and plenty of room with a decent beer garden. Shall make this a regular stop!

Last time I was here was 40 years ago and whilst shops on the Mansfield Rd have come and gone I'm happy that this place retains it's friendly atmosphere. A downhome pub with a decent selection of beers and spirits, no juke box, no hipsters and sadly no seafood hawker- where did the time go!

Lovely pub and outside area with a couple of beach huts for keeping the rain off and also they have a heater enclosed. Beer consists of a good range of well kept real/cask etc. Unfortunately the kitchen opens around 2pm on a Saturday, but they very kindly made a couple of rolls for myself and the missus. Just wish it was not up a long hill, can't wait for every thing to get back to the old normal. A Castle Rock pub.
