Reds True Barbecue in Nottingham

Had quite a disappointing experience on a recent visit to Red’s in Nottingham after hearing many good things about the place. We booked a table and arrived on time but were left standing at the entrance for 10-15 minutes before anybody greeted us. There was another group stood at the front who had also been waiting some time, but to pay and leave, so alarm bells were already ringing. We were briefly told there was no brisket left that day (disappointing, but not the end of the world) en route to our table but they were replacing it with extra burnt ends which we were fine with. When at our table, we then waited another 10-15 minutes for somebody to take our order. When the food arrived the extra burnt ends promised were not present, and there were no staff around, so we had to get up and walk to the kitchen to ask for them. Food was ok but I’ve had better barbecue/smokehouse for less elsewhere. The place seemed pretty sparse and empty in terms of both customers and staff, so not sure if they are struggling a bit? Either way, expected a bit more for £60.

Couldn't have faulted our entire visit!! Other than the fact we left feeling sick from full tummies 😂 Arrived on opening and was welcomed by a very kind guy who gave us seats at the top of the seating area, we were tended to thoroughly. Starters and crackling were fantastic, mains were to die for (I don't suggest getting starters, you'll pop! 😂) and altho some drinks were out of stock, I still enjoyed my watermelon cocktail the vibe overall was amazing and such a banging playlist 😱 New staff did an amazing job despite the pressures and me being picky, so thanks for that 😄 Thanks overall for a fab time Red's!

Amazing staff, we were served by a new starter Seb who was so helpful and made sure we were always happy. The food was really good and very tasty!!! We will definitely be returning, thank you for a lovely meal.

Me and my partner visited Reds Nottingham on Friday 21st of Jan and we couldn’t have been happier with both the service and food we received. We were seated instantly, staff took our drink and food orders fast, so we weren’t waiting around trying to order (unlike in some places). There was a great selection on the menu. The staff were absolutely lovely, friendly and attentive. The food arrived fast and was delicious. The portion size and quality were excellent value for money. We left satisfied, with full stomachs. In short Reds Nottingham is a must! We can’t wait to visit again!!

Firstly, the staff were friendly and welcoming. During my visit here I met various staff all of whom were so nice!Secondly, even though the venue was busy our wait time was short and the service was both quick and friendly.Thirdly, all staff looked attentive and Reay to work! That's always a winner.Fourthly, the food was impeccable and exceeded expectations (my expectations were high).Please if you want some lovely food, a good atmosphere and lively staff, both front of house and vacant of house.....come to Red's!!!!!!

Words cannot describe how bad this place is!!!Lets start with the service firstly we had a new starter looking after us and he was excellent there were a couple of issues with the drinks and the availability but issue sorted. Then we had a new person come and take the order for our food we ordered starters, never arrived!!! Apparently after speaking to the manager they ran out no one felt like they should come and tell us. Out comes the mains and oh my god! How is this a portion at £16 a plate this is disgusting. No one felt like bringing our sides out apparently they hadn’t been prepared. Generally we were absolutely disgusted by what had happened. We spoke to the manager and left the lot, warning other people of the terrible food on the way out.. speaking to the manager we made him aware of how bad it was and that they now have a serious competitor on the market “Hickory’s” the manager was well aware and wasn’t that arsed. I’ve been to reds true bbq before in Sheffield and my god how it’s gone down hill. I won’t be revisiting and at this point I hope hickory’s put them out of business. It's was ok. When we got there we waited a while to order drinks. They came back and took our food order and offered us drinks again.. even though the first ones hadn't come yet. We saw 2 couples come and go as they had to wait to long before being seen to (and it wasn't that busy either) the food was quite tasty, loved the flavours, Food also came quickly. My partner's ribs was lovely, the brisket was quite dry and not moist, sadly didn't pull apart. And the buffalo wings to start was basically dry cooked wings with a drizzle of sauce which was a little disappointing as we love them saucy. And the crackling is just fatty not much crunch. We LOVE American BBQ, this didn't live up to that. Food could use a little work but mostly they need a little front of house management here... The staff seemed stressed and poorly managed meaning there being disrespected by customers (which was sad to see as they seemed lovely) but direction is needed to support the staff. I couldn't tell if there was a manager there as no one stood out as being helpful to the staff.

4.4 is definitely overrated. If you've been to the US or have done some traveling around, you'd know the food there were just mediocre, and comes nothing close to good ones. Had the brisket and feasting plate for 2, most of the meat (wings, ribs, brisket, etc) were dry and cold. I was so excited to have the brisket but it was surely a disappointment and small portion too, 4 thin slices to be exact. The waitress spilled my husband's beer and said she'll being a new one, witness by the manager as he wiped the table for us however nobody shows up with our beer either. Meh ~ not impressed

It was great, loved the taste of the food and service was great. The beef long rib is my favourite and the deep fried apple pie is so good. I don't like apple pies but the thought of this just made me want to try it and it was so good.The beef long rib was a very big portion and still soft inside. Only thing is he flavour was not fully there so you kind of have to dip it once you're past the bbq sauce on the outside.Service was great, it was busy but they managed to get us a table no wait.
