Starting Gate in Nottingham

First time going here, I found the ambience very calm, cosy and welcoming. The food was also piping hot, super fresh and absolutely delicious, although there was a bit of a wait (we didn't really mind as the food seemed to have arrived straight off the stove!). The staff were very friendly too. My only criticism, albeit a personal one, is that I would have liked more salad in the burger to cut through the meatiness. Will definitely be going back :)

Visited here after a walk round colwick park have been in a few time but this visit the atmosphere service and all round standards have much improved. We were one off customers as and when in the area but we will now be making the journey more regular to visit this pub.

What a turnaround this pub has had so much focus on the customers and not just the regulars that think they own the pub. We heard it had been taken over so gave it a try and we will be back for sure. Food great service great. To have a local pub like this long may it continue

What happened to this place? I often meet my best friend at this pub, as it is in between my place and hers. But the last time we went there, we had a really bad experience. Firstly, the two barwomen ignored us, even though there was only us waiting to get served at the bar! We wondered if it was because they heard us speaking French... Then, once we were sitting and having a chat, the sound from the TV's showing football became super loud. We couldn't hear each other anymore... it was just impossible to have a conversation! We complained but once again we were dismissed. Oh well, we'll have to find another place to meet...

Used to come here 2-3 times a fortnite for food , came in today and was shocking , staff didn't know what they were doing , food was disgusting and barely warm and either burnt or under cooked. Ordered drinks took 30 mins to receive them . its definitely gone down hill

Absolutely great 👍food was amazing. The lad on the bar who served us was very professional polite and helpful, all covid procedures was followed will definitely be back great value for money.

Well What perfect Evening we all had all 4 us family together for a catch up and have A few Drinks and Amazing Food 😊 The staff are absolutely Amazing on point with every thing even with our Bruce who is a family dog 😃Tom and his Staff are Absolutely Fantastic and we are Definitely coming back also we are referring to our Family Friends and Our work Colleagues see you soon Tom and Crew playing pool was also a bonus on Tuesdays it is free to play 😃😃 so check it out Everyone and enjoy you’re experience we all did.Thank you AllTom’s Team

Good value pub grub. Great quick service. Perfectly cooked steak. Friendly and helpful staff. Thumbs up.

Terrible food, not at all tasty or that hot never mind even warmish. Not told about the light bites menu until we had ordered and sort of got through what we had, the persons words were well we do have a light bites menu you only had to ask, a good waitress or person serving would have given us all the menu when we were first there. We were told if they had given it to us it would have been about 16 pages long, i don't think so some how.

Very friendly welcoming, after we have been rejected to get served in Toby carvery....bwe have decided to visit this place as we never been.All rules seems to be in place, we been asked if we are from same household and if we have checked in in app, then we had to wait few seconds for our table wich was sanitized before we could sat down.It's seems to be a bussy place but we were happy to wait a bit for our drinks. Great value.
