Oriental Star in Oadby and Wigston

Just before the pandemic really hit here our favourite Chinese takeway (New Golden Chef on Claredon Park Road) closed down for good and we knew we had to find another one to fill that void. We tried Oriental Star for the first time over 2 years ago and I can say with full confidence that it's the best Chinese takeaway in the Oadby/Stoneygate area.We've tried several over the years because we find it hard to believe that one on our doorstep is also the best, but it's true! We always come back to Oriental Star and nothing compares to it! If you're within delivery range you have to try it! And even if you're not, you could always collect! It's probably worth the travel!Few tips- I'd suggest ordering a while after opening time to ensure you get the freshest food. Ordering your food for 7/7.30 tends to be the sweet spot for us. And if they're busy, it might be worth the wait. We had to wait 2 hours for our food yesterday (they told us this prior to ordering, so not an issue) and when the food arrived, it was incredible! My cousin Simmy hasn't stopped smiling since she ate the food!

Had a beef curry last night of which more than half went in the bin. This was truly the worst Chinese meal I've ever had - it didn't even taste like curry - more like watered down, processed junk with 2 random slices of carrots and 5 peas thrown in for good measure. Absolutely awful!!!

We placed an order and specified that we’d like 2 of the dishes vegan. They were tofu dishes so were already vegetarian so just needed to know if they had milk or egg in them essentially. Also put in the note to ring me with any issues. They cancelled it immediately without bothering to ring me and when I rang to ask why they had cancelled, they said it was because they were busy and couldn’t be bothered to check the ingredients of our food. I asked them if there was any egg or milk in the tofu dishes to which they responded “we don’t know” and continued to tell me they didn’t have enough time to talk to me and the chef was also yelling at me in the background. Worst part is, this was my first place trying this out… DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE EATING RESTRICTIONS/ALLERGIES as they do not know or care what they put into their food. Disgusting service.

Hands down best chinese in Leicester been getting food from here since I was young I'm now 36 even my partner loves it

The food is great, visit this place if you just want some tasty food and don't want to spend a lot of money.

I order from this restaurant about once a month. The food is always excellent , it is always ready on time Will continue to use it regularly as finding consistent quality is difficult to find. Check it out for yourself

My first Chinese takeaway for nearly two years and my first time here, well I can only say it was fab, delivered at the time requested, piping hot and delicious. I have never experienced such decent portions either, will Devi make this my place to go in future.

Oriental star has been our regular Chinese takeaway for many years now, the staff know us well and their food has never disappointed, have tried others in Oadby but we always come back here.

Ordered salt chilli beancurd and salt chilli chips. They always arrive hot, fresh, and cooked to personal preference. Excellent value for money and very friendly staff.

Nice Chinese takeaway restaurant. The taste is very yum and total value for money. Loved the bean curd dishes and egg fried rice.
