Castle cottage is fantastic. We love the scone platter, chocolate Guinness cake and chicken and mango salad. Our 10 year old daughter thinks the ham, tomato and rocket sandwich is 'the best sandwich on the whole world'. The staff are really lovely, helpful and friendly but never pushy, Everywhere is so clean too - you can see in to the kitchen from the counter and it is always immaculate. Obviously the location is idyllic, fab for families and couples.

Homely cafe set behind the castle in Oakham, full of charm and individual attention. Friendly staff that offer a warm welcome complemented by a menu that has offerings including home made produce. Definitely a personal feel to a cafe environment

Myself and 9 others had an afternoon tea/ploughman's and a cake platter beautifully presented and tasty. Will be bringing my family back soon so they can try too.

Lovely food, excelent atmosphere. Just be aware the cafe has moved to the Castle grounds behind the Great Hall.

Holidaying in the area and found this dog friendly gem in Oakham. Great service and lovely food in a delightful setting. Can recommend the veggie breakfast….blackcurrant jam with melted cheese inspired!! The cakes looked lovely but sadly we didn’t have room to sample them.

Lovely venue in a lovely place! Used to visit when it had its own garden. Had lovely sized portions at reasonable prices. Visited today - ordered a savoury ā€˜cream tea’ …tasted lovely but the scone was so tiny it was literally two bites…at Ā£6 it was a real rip off

A unique cafe, converted from a terraced house and garden into one of the best places I have everhad the pleasure to visit. The cafƩ is designed like a fairy talesetting, with a large marquee in the upper garden and lovely cast iron tables and chairs. There areflowers all around, and also a summer house that you can dine in. Inside there is a basement room, and upstairs there are further rooms all for dining, if youprefer. The food is excellent andfreshly prepared. This place is known as a hidden gem, and itlives up to its billing.

Lightning really does strike twice, always a great warm friendly welcome at the Castle Cottage Cafe by Steve and his staff. Now in terms of the food you know when you go to some places to eat they struggle to repeat their feats of good food on a consistent basis.Well they don't have that issue here !!!Really top coffees and a good breakfast with very good ingredients cooked perfectly. The most important aspect being you are made to feel welcome which enhances the experience. Keep it up Steve and Co .
