Hitchen’s Barn in Rutland

One of our favourite places in Oakham. The food is fantastic, the choice of wines is excellent and the service is second to none. That's why we try to make it every month.

A First Visit, but will return again, I am sure. This Restaurant is always Busy so you need to make a Reservation. Very pleasant atmosphere and helpful polite staff. The menu is quite small, but there is something to suit all tastes. The Food was Good and you can see why this Restaurant is so Popular. I would visit again.

Chose rump of lamb for lunch which was delicious. No need to ask for mint sauce as the gravy and accompanying vegetables were perfectly flavoursome.

What an absolutely smashing lunchtime we had with our friends who have been here on a few occasions and said we would not be disappointed. We certainly were not. Food absolutely delicious and service fantastic. We went as a delayed birthday lunch from February and will definitely be going back. I've attached a photo of my cheese soufflé, cod with crab crust and chocolate fondant, and rhubarb cheesecake. Really good choice of meals, complimentary bread and we tried marmite butter, which was very interesting to say the least. Like they say you either love it or hate it. We loved it. Everything was absolutely delicious. Thank you to all the staff.

Outstanding meal. Booked a family lunch for husband’s birthday. The service was excellent and all staff attentive and polite. Every dish was excellent. The ingredients are carefully sourced and it is reflected in the quality of food. It is rare when you go out and every course is excellent. Venison and rib eye cooked to perfection. Sticky toffee pudding and stem ginger cheese cake hit the spot. They also gave husband a birthday card.

Absolutely beautiful food, fantastic service & really great value for money. I can’t wait to visit again soon.

The team at Hitchens Barn gave us a fantastic and memorable evening as we met with friends and family to celebrate our wedding blessing.The food was faultless, with an exceptional meal which was loved by all 20 family and friends.Eating upstairs, only added to the wonderful occasion with service that was efficient and personable.To deliver such a high standard of food, service and a beautiful environment takes such hard work and everyone should be commended.Having enjoyed visiting as a couple we now have an added admiration for Hitchens Barn as their ability to look after our group booking was seamless until we left.Thank you so much for making a special day even more special.To all who have not visited, you are missing out, so book in soon.

Amazing food and great service! I've been waiting to come here for some time and it did not disappoint! I would definitely recommend this place - be sure to book in advance as it unsurprisingly gets busy.

My husband and I came here for an anniversary dinner and it suited us perfectly. Casual, fine dining with a brilliant atmosphere as staff so welcoming, friendly and helpful with choices on offer. A superb menu where the food is simple with a few little twists to some classics which is changed regularly. Our meal was delicious at every course. A great size where it is not so loud you cannot hear each other speak nor so quiet that you end up whispering to each other. Gorgeous decor etc and we left wanting to come back soon. Well done team - you are doing great things!
