Called here for a drink at lunchtime and the seating outside was great as it was lovely and sunny. Staff were great and it was a pleasant day - set me up for the rest of the day

Late Sunday lunch for 6. I did book well in advance, had a fabulous meal in our own little alcove. Staff were really friendly and also professional. Chef came out to chat a few times too which was really good.Food is not cheap but realistically priced for the quality and environment.Super dog friendly too. Thanks to all at Blue Ball, top marks!

We went here for a Saturday lunch and had a really lovely time in this cosy pub. The vibe is exactly what I look for in a country pub with a good balance of walkin space and tables for drinkers and diners. It feels welcoming to all. The food was of a high standard and I was particularly impressed with their homemade pie. I saw a review here saying they felt it was overpriced but i feel well crafted good food made with quality produce should not be cheap and I think it's fair. The service was friendly if a little bit shy.

Really enjoyed our recent evening meal, food was really delicious. Staff very helpful, sent email beforehand of new menu, as not online for some reason! Lots of choice for all courses, didn't have a dessert but looked lovely. Would definitely recommend, and visit again soon.

Visited this pub for a Sunday lunch after reading great reviews, left feeling slightly disappointed.Cosy front room but being taken through to the table in the back area just totally lacked atmosphere. Told to order first drinks at the bar instead of table service. Wine glasses weren’t cleared away that we weren’t using. Food was really nice when it arrived but it did take quite a while, we had 4 beef & 1 lamb - really needed some more gravy though! Waitress gave us dessert menus after but then nobody came back to take our order. Our desserts were also nice when we finally got a member of staff to take our order! Then nobody came back to check if we wanted any other drinks or coffees. We felt the staff didn’t really want to be there, none of them appeared comfortable and confident.Poor service and overpriced- we won’t be back in a hurry!

We enjoyed the ‘feel’ of this country pub; low beams, cozy dining areas, fires to be lit on colder days, and lack of TVs and over decoration.Food: We had the fish and chips (the chips with their skins on were almost doubled-cooked crispy which we liked). The side of minted pea soup was a delicious pea substitution. Our other choice was salmon with flavourful kale, a tower of potatoes, and pomegranate seed decoration. Other dishes being served were chunky steaks and sausage and mash which we heard described as “scrummy.”Drinks: Our drinks were Doom Bar, and their tasty personal custom brewed bitter. (See the attached pictures to get an idea of the bitter's copper color.)We did think we caught them on a slightly off day (Wednesday lunch), with serving staff lighter and newer than usual. We waited quite some time for our food and later found ourselves doing that awkward trying-to-attract-attention head bobbing to ask for our second drinks and bill. However, this will definitely not stop us returning to see what’s new on tap and on their menu.

We popped into the Blue Ball just on a whim, we hadn’t been for years, the place had just lost it’s spark and atmosphere. We were super surprised, new owners new staff with a great menu. The place has really got it’s atmosphere back, the staff and owner are charming and engaging, we had a lovely time, good food and super atmosphere. We’re so pleased to have the Blue Ball in the area and in such good form. Well done.

Only called in for a drink. The staff were really friendly and the pub looked very clean and cosy. We will definitely be giving it a try for a meal.
